I check the "other" box since I am both White and AK Native.

White. Italian to be exact. And in the winter I'd describe myself as pasty white.

I vote "white" but when I start thinking about it, I'm such a mix of different backgrounds maybe I should vote "other" too. Hmm. I always just assumed the fact that I look white and none of my very close relatives are non-white, that I'm white.

But I'm 1/8 Native American, and somewhere way back there is Hebrew/Jewish blood. Besides that, I'm English, Irish, Scots-Irish, Welsh, a bit of German I think (I'd have to confirm with my mom on this one). So the majority of my history is "white" but I do have some "other" in there too... Are there others out there like this? What do you mark?
I am as white as can be I think (Very pale skin too P. Not always good with the sun.). I am Swedish and as far I know I have nothing but swedes in my bloodline for a looong ways back.

Funny how race isn't talked about at all back home. It surprised me lots hearing it so much/often when I first moved to the US. I guess race doesn't have such a big meaning to me at all. I am not grown up with it being a factor kinda. To me we are all the same but different.

I chose white and I am part of the pasty white crowd too (sorry Mip). But, I actually am 1/8 Native American, in addition to be primarily second generation Irish American. I look completely white, and, thought I was until a couple years ago, so, that is what I am seen as and identify with the most. Although, I am learning on my own a great deal about my Native American ancestors. Since, I am not a cultural Native American, it is difficult.
I'm multiracial. I check black or other depending on my mood.

What jeep said...esp the "pasty" part. Most of the ancestors are northern eye-talians.
"Other." I'm biracial- half black and half white. I know I'm supposed to check black, but I don't feel that's correct, and, you know, I don't always like doing what I'm told.
