That day has come...
My AARP card arrived in the mail this week.

as if I'll be able to "retire" before 70, if then. But I suppose their name doesn't really mean that much any more.

My condolences.

I always present his to my ex. You can imagine how it delights him.

I've been getting crap from AARP for 10 years at least (while I was still in my 40's!). They are pretty relentless.
And don't worry, I'll be working right beside you in my 70's. We will be a bunch of rockin' old biddies greeting people at the walmarts. : )

Not only will I need the money, but I'd be bored out of my mind without working.

My uncle is 84 and has AARP (not the insurance). He gets some discounts just from having the card. I don't know how much it cost but I don't think it was much. I know he got a deal on his cell phone because he was a member. I guess it's kinda like having AAA for ers and you can get discounts at certain hotels, car rentals, etc type of thing.

I guess I'll find out in 2 years when I'm 50. So far they aren't knocking on my door.

I can't wait until I get mine so I can get the discounts.

I will get mine in July. I want the discounts and anything else associated with being a member, that will save me money.
