We're all 4b/4cs...she's 2c/3a. Help!

LOL

Originally I thought my youngest niece was 3a/3b but after taking the Curl Type quiz I think she's more of a 2c/3a with some 3b at the nape. When it comes to styling, until recently we kept her in pigtails, pony puffs, or braids. Now that she's 4 she has declared that she wants to wear her hair down. It's somewhere around APL (MBL when wet) and is fairly thick.

(Generation gap: When I was a kid I didn't get to decide how I wore my hair until I was given the task of caring for it. But since she's my niece I don't get the last word or even the next-to-last-word so...)

She's your typical rambunctious 4-year-old so she's always getting into stuff. (Again, if she lived with ME...ahem...I digress.) Last time I was in her hair it was really tangled at the nape.

For styling purposes, pretty much everything we use on our hair is too heavy and/or greasy for hers. So...what products are out there that have natural or mostly natural ingredients, aren't too expensive (yes, I realize this is probably an oxymoron), and will keep her loose curls manageable and healthy-looking?

Try Deva Curl line although expensive it's nice and the Kinky Kurly line is less expensive.
Shampoo: Terressetials Mud Wash (lavender or lemon)
Co-Wash: Trader Joe's Tea Tree Conditioner
Deep Conditioner: Anita Grant's Rhassoul Deep Condish
Leave In: Kinky Curly Knot Today
Creams/Oils: Raw Shea Butter, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Jamican Black Castor Oil and Jojoba Oil

Unless it's true that, unlike with our thick hair textures, hers may only need a tiny bit of styling product, like it says on the packaging? LOL...we're in uncharted waters here...thanks for the suggestion though.

Well, is her hair fine, medium, or coarse? Is it thin, normal or thick density? Does it wet easily or water sits atop it? I have 3b/c hair, but my hair is medium coarse in texture and low porosity, so Deva products don't work for me. I would suggest starting out with the Tressemme Naturals moisturizing conditioner if her hair isn't fine and then getting one of the Shea Moisture leave ins and cheap Tressemme gel for hold. There is also a Giovanni conditioner many posters rave about sold at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

If you're referring to the Giovanni Direct Leave-In, I've used that and think it's pretty good. I will look for cheap Tressemme gel. Thanks for the suggestion.
