New Homemade Ice Cream Recipes!

Ok, here are a few we've tried and LOVED. Our machine only makes a quart (thank goodness) so you will probably have to adjust recipes.

This is the base we always use:

2 C. heavy or whipping cream
2/3 C. half and half
3/4 C. sugar

Pour cream into mixing bowl. Whisk in the sugar a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute. Pour in half and half, wisk to blend.

You can add candy or crushed candy bars to this for something easy. My husband loves Heath bars (yuck). I like Butter Fingers.

Prepare base ice cream, chill in fridge.

1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/3 C. sugar

Combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Cover, leave in fridge for at least an hour.

After chilling, smash strawberries into puree and stir into the cream base.

Transfer mixture into ice cream maker and freeze (according to the mfg. instructions).

Orange Cream Dream:
Prepare base.

1/3 C frozen orange juice, thawed
2 t vanilla extract

Add juice concentrate and vanilla extract to base and blend.

Transfer to ice cream maker, freeze according to mfg instructions.

Mimosa Ice:

1 1/2 C champagne
1/4 C. suger
1 1/2 C orange juice

Pour champaigne and OJ into a large bowl. Add sugar, stir till disolved and champ. is flat.

Transfer to ice cream maker, freeze following mfg. instructions.

Great seved in champagne or in mimosa. Yum!

This is such a great place! I have been dying to share my idea for guava ice cream!
To the basic recipe,mix in a little pink guava paste into the milk mixture. As it freezes add sliced fresh guavas (canned or frozen- the yellow kind) This is the best!
