Best heat protectants for flat ironing 4a hair?

Since my hair gets so dry, I was thinking I'd apply Kinky Curly Knot Today as a leave-in after rinsing out the deep conditioner, then applying some sort of heat protectant serum, blowdrying, then applying a spray-on heat protectant as I flat iron. Does anyone know of the best heat protectants for a) blow-drying and b) flat ironing? I've heard good things about CHI and Rebken, but I don't want anything that will weigh down my hair or make it oily. Thanks in advance!

*BONUS QUESTION:* What do you apply to your hair throughout the week to keep it moisturized without making the hair oily? Also, where do you apply it? Ends, scalp, both or all over?

My recommendation for you are products available from Sally's Beauty Supply. The line is Silk Elements and the products are wonderful!

The Heat Protection Spray can be used on damp hair before blow-drying. Also, it can be used on dry hair prior to flat ironing. This product contains no alcohol and your hair is left smooth and shiny. You will see the difference immediately after using it. When you initially use the spray, mist lightly on your hair. You will then be able to gauge if you need to apply more.

Silk Elements has a gloss that I use daily. I apply the gloss mid-strands to the ends since that is the oldest part of hair. Since using these products, I have received a lot of complements on the look and shine of my hair. In the past I have used products which include REDKEN, KMS, and CHI. By far, the Silk Elements line is the best fit for my hair.

I hope this helps you and I'd love to here about your results!

no on the knot today.. its way too heavy believe it or not! Im not into leaving conditioners in my hair as heat protectants, they leave it stiff and sticky. My newest love is Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave In, umm LOVE ! Before i would use Infusium23 leave in (same consistency) on damp hair and a drop (literally) of oil or Redken's Smooth down serum on each section before flat ironing (you can also try that combo)

But the last two times i straightened i use the Jane Carter alone with GREAT results.. i intended to use OnenOnly Argan oil treatment in place of the Redken (because it has cones, to protect) but i didnt need it. Idk whats in that stuff, maybe the henna but my hair was SHINY!

To maintain it i smoothed butter only on the ends every morning and night, my natural oils took care of the rest.. & it stayed lovely until i washed it. Love that Jane Carter as a heat protectant!
