help! dont know what to do.

My hair looks course and thick but its not. Its very soft and I would like it to be thicker. I don't know how to classify it other than 4a. Between the relaxers, split ends, heat damage (dominican shops for about a year) etc my hair is very damaged. That's putting it lightly. Now at the top of my head I have two large spots where my hair broke off to the roots and is making a pitiful attempt to grow back. It doesn't help that I tried to trim my own hair. SMH. I have 2inch new growth to 10inch transition pieces all over my head now. I fight the urge to BG every day. I don't have the face for it. Short relaxed hair yes close to bald TWA no. I don't know what else to do besides cornrows, hair vitamins and massaging EOs into my scalp every other day. I tried to do 2 strand twist myself last week it was tragic. The 2 spots stood out like they were trying to make a statement. Then the relaxed microthin ends did nothing to help. And since when did some cornrows start costing $60+. My 5 year old daughter has the most beautiful 3a 4a mix. I can't wait for my hair to correct!

Suggestion please!
YOu only have one option. BC. Cut it off. Start over. There are many products on this site that can define your curls. However, your hair may not behave very weel for a few months. IN fact, you won't know what your hair's going to do.
YOu're going to have to experiment with products. Check out youtube. Try not to be a product junky becuase buying a lot of products won't fix your problem. If you look at some of the 4A ladies who had beautiful long hair, choped it all off, went natural and now a year or two later have beautiful curls, it may give you inspiration.
YOur problem isn't thin hair it's damaged hair. BC is your only choice IMO.
I've considered the BC. And... I can't. The way I now see this is ... Look at it as a broken nail. It may look bad and not be repair able but its still there and will continue to grow to the point it can be cut off eventually. Thanks for the advice but I'm not there yet.
I think you are on the right track when you say cornrows. Not anything too tight though. Find a protective style and leave it up all the time for now while the good hair grows in, then once it's long enough cut off all the damage.
