Is there such a thing as putting too much Shea Butter in your hair? I mix my shea butter with coconut oil, jojoba oil, vitamin e oil, and virgin oil. Is that too much to put on every day? I have 4C hair btw
Too much Shea can weigh your hair down. Speaking from experience it's too heavy for me to use every day. Your shea mix sounds great but you shouldn't have to use it everyday. HTH!

Oh ok. I sometimes put it on every other day. But I just keep them in a protective style twist with either a half wig or wrap it up with a silk scarf. I just don't want my hair to dry and break off.
I gotcha! When protective styling I do apply my moisturizer heavier than normal. But it sounds like your doing a good job.

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I appreciate it
I wanted to try putting shea butter on my head but it's too thick and creamy. My hair can't take a lot of weight. A pity because I have dry hair. If your hair is responding well to your regiment then don't change it.
Also, too much of it can cause product buildup

I thin out my shea butter by mixing it in a small container with coconut oil, jojoba oil, EVOO, and vitamin E. I got the recipe from Napture85 on youtube. She's been extra helpful during my natural journey. Check her out:

Some need a lot of oil, even a few times a day. Too much oil causes greasy, heavy, sticky hair. Otherwise, no problem!

I think I've found my balance of using too much shea butter and not enough. Thanks ladies
