First twist out
Ok folks... I did my first twist out & needless to say the jury is still out. My hair is too short to really do anything about it. It did what it was supposed to do & blend my textures but not wild about the look. There are some fuzzy spots, & some places didn't curl much at all. & I have curly hair.

Anything I can do should there be a next time?

Did you use a moisturizer when you twisted your hair? I find that helps keep the fuzzies away. If I don't use one, I end up with a frizzy mess on my hands. Also, if you put a little roller on the ends of each twist, it helps keep the twist from unravelling, and also makes the curly look carry thru all the way to the ends of your hair. (personally, I prefer the braid out though.)

Oh ok. I didn't put a moisturizer on there just curling pudding & gel. I'll try a braid out cuz I'm not sure about this look.

the pudding and gel should have worked too.....Maybe your hair doesn't like the products used and u just have to try twisting/braiding with a different product. I'm not sure how much relaxed hair you have left, but I have A LOT of relaxed hair. (about 3 inches natural, and the rest relaxed. Hair is about mid-back lenght), so for me, I find the products I used when doing my braid outs with ALL relaxed hair still work best for me, which was/is the BB oil moisturizer in the pink and white bottle. It seems to moisturize when I put it on, but then give a pretty decent hold without getting hard when it dries into my hair overnight. After I take the rollers off the ends in the morning, I hit the tips with just a bit more moisturizer and then take the braids out, and it looks perfect. If you still have a lot of relaxed hair left, you may want to try that. It's all about the product that is used and how your hair acts towards it though. ( at least for me). Good luck! and if you can, post a pic! :toothy10:

I have perm & color on the sides of my head. I have maybe 2-3 inches of perm left the rest of my hair is natural. The permed hair looked somewhat decent but my natural hair was a frizzy mess.

Not sure which gel u used but unlike everyone else, the Eco Styler gel doesn't work for me and my twist outs; it always leaves my hair damp. I always use Cantu's leave-in conditioner ($5 at Family Dollar, Walmart, etc.)mixed with African Pride Growth Oil (no more than $5) and my hair comes out dry but defined. Also, if u do your hair too late at night and then wake up early in the morning, it may not be dry all the way

Oh ok. It was dry but my hair felt like I could break it like a twig & if i broke my hair i would have lock if hair in my hand. I didn't know how to feel about that

Shedding hair is perfectly normal during the transitioning period. It's usually the dead ends from the relaxed hair that are breaking off.

Oh ok.

I'm not transitioning but I never ever never skip li. It's not optional. I definitely wouldn't use gel without it underneath.

I have the Softee gel. It has no alcohol in it. It has protein in it. Those are the only things I can remember that it has in it off hand. I like the Indian hemp oil they have.

Sorry. I meant to say it's not optional for me. I"m assuming you are 12 and 13. Why do you have two screennames?

I personally think braid outs are better because the hair curls more.
