Wash day and braids?

Hello all! I am 3 months post relaxer. I have always gotten my hair professionally done. This weekend I am going to wash my hair myself. I have about 2 inches of new growth which is rather thick in the roots but moisturized. I intend to pre-poo then braid my hair in about 10-12 braids and wash and condition with the braids still in my hair. To me this method seems sort of safer as far as friction from washing and detangling goes. Has anyone ever tried this method? And if so what was your experience like?

I don't see how you could possibly massage your scalp effectively with braids in, nor be sure you had washed all the oils or shampoo out from within the braids. It's notoriously difficult to bleach or dye braids and dreadlocks because you cannot get even distribution, this plan sounds very similar. To detangle gently section your hair, use loads of a conditioner with plenty of slip and allow yourself plenty of time; some like to detangle whilst watching television or listening to music so they don't get bored and impatient.

I can honestly say I LOVE washing my hair have feeling that "CLEAN" feeling. When I had my hair in braids I just never felt I got 100% clean feeling.
Thanks. I ended up parting my hair in 4 sections and then washed/conditioned.
