Dry itchy scalp
So I use no-poo almost exclusively. Every once in a while I'll use a lathering poo like Shea Moisture. Even on the days that I don't wash I scrub my scalp under the shower stream and condition. My scalp has been so itchy...and I've noticed flakes. Any suggestions?

Your scalp is probably dirty and that is why it is itching and flaking. Try clarifying each week. If you don't want to use shampoo, try using ACV or baking soda. I like baking soda the best. It refreshes your scalp and feels great.

If that is your current routine in your signature, I would guess the flaking is probably build up from cones, and this can also coat your scalp and let bacteria grow. Shea Moisture shampoo doesn't have the ingredients to take cones out either. I would switch to a low poo that contains coco betaine and cocamidopropyl betaine. If you want to use a no poo exclusively, I would suggest getting rid of the cones.

I wouldn't suggest a baking soda scrub, this can very easily damage the hair and make it dry, unless followed by an acidic rinse to close the cuticle.

I am pretty sure that coco and cocamidopropyl betaine can get rid of cones. So you should be able to still use cones and a low poo instead of a sulfate.

However, it could be the cones initially that are adding to your irritation, like the others have suggested.

See your family doctor or a dermatologist for a diagnosis. You can easily worsen a problem randomly self treating.

Hmm....I may have to look into the low poo to use occasionally and the no poo regularly. Cones are basically a must for me cause my hair is super tangly and the time and effort it took to get thru my hair with no cones I think caused more damage than good. Maybe that's it...just build up. I'll do like a coconut oil treatment tomorrow and shampoo with a sulphate poo...try to do that maybe weekly

If that doesn't work tho I will make an appt with my dermatologist
