Are my curls ruined for good?

My hair is naturally curly, and I had been getting it relaxed since I was about 4 or 5 (I'm 27 now). I'm black, Arab, and white. Last year, I decided to shave my hair and go natural because I had always wanted my natural curls back, relaxing it was getting expensive and ruining my hair, and I wanted it to look good all the time and not just for a month. Well I did the big chop and my curls did come back, but they were dry. I kept hearing that deep conditioner was good for curly hair, so I did that to moisturize it. My hair is now only curly at the back, and the rest of it is a springy afro. I'm really sad because I was all happy that I finally had my curls back, and now they're gone again. The brand I used was Aussie, and a hair stylist at a salon that I explained the situation to said that's not a good brand. Is there any way I can get my hair back the way it was, or do I need to re-cut it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
