Would going for a pixie with 3B be a mistake?

I've been growing out my hair forever(Seriously, I can't remember the last time I had it cut!) and I've been thinking about going short for a new look instead of looking like I'm carting around a sweater on top of my head all the time but I'm not sure if it would work with my hair. I'm a 3B but my hair is pretty dense and really thick, but can kind of be tamed down with product. I attached a few pictures of something I'd like to try but before I launch myself into something so drastic I'd like to know if it's worth the risk or not, and if there are any good products out there for managing a short 3B cut. Any advice? (Side note: This is my first post, so apologies if I put it under the wrong topic.)

I would first get a good curly girl cut by someone who know how to cut it dry and give your longer hair a better shape since it's been forever since you had a cut. Then if after living with it for a few months you don't like it or can't stop thinking about the pixie then go for it. But I think you might regret going for the big chop without trying the small shape up first. You've waited for a long time to not see what this length looks like with some love!
I had a really short Halle Berry short pixie several years ago and I loved it ! My hair is a tad finer and 3a so Im not exactly sure but I think you want to get a pro to get an opinion to see if yours is too thick for it..
