Nervous About Transitioning

My mom has been using perms in my hair for as long as I can remember, but as of lately I stopped perming and have kept my hair in braids and twist and letting it grow out and cutting dead ends etc. Well My aunt told me I'd still have to cut a lot of my hair even though my hair while it isn't growing fast, it is a lot healthier than it was when I first started doing the braids. My question is should i still chop like my aunt says or should I continue to do what I'm doing?

I may be a little biased because I'm a huge fan of the big chop, but I think you should cut a lot of it. It's really freeing to have shorter hair and it marks the start of your natural hair journey. Your hair will grow much quicker with the dead hair gone and it's easier to style healthy hair. If you're more comfortable with your routine, you can stick to it; but the big chop is the best thing I ever did. It's scary and different, but it's worth it.
