Dandruff, itchy scalp, thinner hair
My hair has been thinning out for a few months now. With that I have developed dry scalp that itches and I have white flakes appear on my scalp after washing. After washing my hair my scalp feels very itchy. What should I do to stop dandruff but also make my hair grow back healthy? Please help!
I'm so sorry you've been experiencing this. I want to mention first that for thinning hair, please make an appointment with your doctor. A medical condition could be causing your hair to thin. I noticed that my hair growth was stunted about a year ago, and it turned out to be linked to an iron deficiency. Are you stressing out? How's your diet? Do you drink lots of water? I want to recommend Shea Moistures Yucca and Plaintain hair care line. It is designed to grow back thinning hair. Here is a link to read about it.http://www.sheamoisture.com/Yucca-Plantain_c_129.h...For your scalp, please consider purchasing some oils such as Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba oil, or Avocado Oil. They are light, and I've heard other type 3b curlies mention them in their hair care routines. Try massaging your scalp with these oils very often. What are you using to wash and moisturize your hair? Read the ingredients on the back. Try to avoid products with sulfates and alcohols because they tend to dry out natural hair. After I switched to using products with all natural ingredients, my awful scalp conditions faded away after a few months. I love Shea Moisture's African Black Soap line, please read about it as well. I suffered from dry itchy scalp and tenderness until I came across this line.http://www.sheamoisture.com/African-Black-Soap-_c_...I hope that some of this helps. I know how frustrating it can be when your hair doesn't look or feel it's best.I attached some images of the Shea Moisture lines that I mentioned.
For the dandruff, I also have it. I use Head and Shoulders Dandruff shampoo whenever it gets itchy, but one warning: It loosens the dandruff and does it well, but then you have tons of dandruff to comb out of your hair. This process can take a while especially with long hair. However, it works exceedingly well in getting dandruff out. Also, you need to use it the suggested amount of times a week (it says on the bottle), otherwise it will keep coming back. Hope I helped.
