How to care for fine naturally curly hair?

I am pretty sure my hair type is around 2B/2C.I discovered the CG method around my sophomore year of HS which was about 3 years ago. I am currently a college freshman. I have been using the CG method till this day, but I noticed that my hair is not your average curly girl hair. My hair is fine, and I find it difficult to get volume. My routine hasn't been going well for me for some reason like high school years. I thought I was doing something wrong. I tried using a clarifying shampoo once every other week to see if that would make a difference to remove build-up but no success. An annoying thing my hair does is knotting very quickly. Also, I lose hair easily when wet. After my showers, I always have to take out a small hair chunk from the drain and take some off my tangle teezer brush. (I am not even sure if I should be using a tangle teezer at all, but I do not have the patience or time in the morning to finger comb my troublesome hair.)Should I be following a different method since my curly hair is fine? Maybe I am not caring for it properly and treating it as if it were full and volumized. I sort of live by L.A. looks sport gel and the Kinky Curly Knot today leave-in. It's how I style my hair everyday and then I always diffuse. I refuse to leave the house without diffusing because air-drying makes my hair look dull and a bit flat. Please give me some suggestions or recommend what I should do. I really want to embrace my natural hair. I just need to know how to properly care for it. (This is a very recent picture of me)
