I am experiencing protein overload what are the steps to take to alleviate the problem?
My hair is breaking very bad when I wash no matter how careful I am. Very dry and moisturizer seems to sat on top of my hair.
You may want to try a clarifying moisturizing treatment like a clay rinse.1 cup pure Bentonite and or Moroccan Red clay powder (not as drying as bentonite clay)2-3 cup warm water1 tablespoon of honey1 tablespoon of olive oilSmooth the treatment on (it should be the consistency of cake batter). Leave it on for at least 15 minutes (do not let it dry–wear a plastic cap over it if you need to). Rinse thoroughly and follow with a conditioner that does not contain proteins (check the ingredients). You could also try this treatment instead: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/recipes-%97...Make sure your leave in moisturizer doesn't contain protein or mineral oil. The next time you wash after the treatment try using a cleansing conditioner. Then deep condition your hair with a deep conditioner or regular condition that doesn't have proteins. As you look out for proteins, you may also want to avoid panthenol and hydrolyzed silk or silk protein and keratin. Those tend to dry out my hair too. Check the ingredients in all your products. If you don't know what something is, google it to make sure its not a drying kind of alcohol or a protein.
