I like to comb out the tangles before I get in the shower, but should I wait until I get in?

I've heard that you should only comb your hair when wet, but I usually do it before I get in, when my hair is dry. Is that wrong?

Most people here will suggest that you wait until your hair is wet and soaked with product before you comb out your hair. When you brush out dry hair, the knots tend to snag together causing the hair strands to fray and break. When your hair is soaked with conditioner, the strands in the knots become more slippery and tend to come apart more easily without snagging or breaking. Other people like to use detangling products to comb out their hair right after they shower, but the effect is the same.
