Troubles with kinky hair texture.

hello! I'm 14 years old and my hair journey is kinda not going anywhere. I still don't understand my hair or how to grow it (kinda) or what to do. Okay all my life I've had a Twa. I've never had long hair. Causing me to wear weaves constantly for confidence and my mom but it's hard when you want your hair to grow tho lol. My hair went through a lot I mean a lot! Right now I'll say that it's kinda good where it is for first time. I'm happy with how it is now but kinda feel it's not getting anywhere. My hair is very short and as you can see in the pictures it's very uneven and thin like it's not thick how I see my other sisters hair which makes me upset lol. Also after every wash it gets very very dry! And the shrinkage is insane. I straighten to see my length and as you can see it's not good. I haven't gone anywhere. What I'm trying to say is I want to actually make my hair grow but what does it want? My goal is for at least thick, even hair worthy enough to wear it in a bun or pony or natural! But I'm very stubborn so I wear weaves and try everything possible to take care it. Another problem I go through is getting hair products. I don't have that much money to buy what I need. I try to follow my regimen I build as well.

Hey! I know it's hard, but you can't compare your hair to anybody else's. Even siblings won't have the same hair - we're all unique! If you're just now getting to a good place, that means you're on the right track at least! Hair growth takes time - on AVERAGE hair grows 1/2 inch per month, but a lot of people grow LESS than that, including me! The key is not hair growth but length RETENTION! As long as you're alive, hair will grow lol it's KEEPING that length and preventing breakage that is the difficult part. For our type of hair, it thrives when it's moisturized and left alone. You can try two strand twists and keep them in for one week at a time and then wash, gently detangle, moisturize and immediately twist your hair back up. For more advice I suggest you read all of Craving Yellow's articles here on NaturallyCurly!
