What to use in place of Coconut Oil?

Hi everyone. I have read and heard about coconut oil being beneficial for the hair by strengthening it and helping the hair to retain moisture. I've used coconut oil for months now, as a pre-wash(?) routine because it was supposed to help with tangles and what not. Unfortunately, my hair seemed to tangle just as bad when I use it and were difficult to remove before, during, and after shampooing. The coconut oil also leaves my hair a lot dryer. I've read that having a lot of protein in the body or in the hair may cause the coconut oil to dry the hair. I'm not sure whether or not that's true. I've mixed coconut oil with other oils, but it still doesn't seem to work. What is an alternative oil I can use on my hair to help with moisture retention and detangling? Not only an alternative oil for moisturizing, but what's a good product moisturizer?I don't know if this will be of any help, but here's a list of the products I currently use:SHEA MOISTURE SET 1 (WHAT I ORIGINALLY USED) Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo w/ Sea Kelp & Argan Oil (Dry, Damaged Hair) Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner w/ Sea Kelp & Argan Oil (Dry, Damaged Hair) [Heal, Grow & Strengthen] Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk w/ Silk Protein & Neem Oil (Thick, Curl Hair) Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque w/ Sea Kelp & Argan Oil (Dry, Damaged Hair) [Heal, Grow, & Strengthen] Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist w/ Silk Protein & Neem Oil (Thick, Curly Hair) [Anti-Frizz, Moisture & Shine]SHEA MOISTURE SET 2 (WHAT I'M GOING TO TRY) I recently bought the new Shea Moisture set with the dark green labels because it's supposed to help with frizz, splits, and breaking. I haven't tried the set yet.Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Shampoo w/ Baobab Oil & Cilantro Extract (Frizzy, Split & Breaking Hair) [Moisturize, Control & Boost Shine] Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Styling Milk w/ Baobab Oil & Cilantro Extract (Frizzy, Split & Breaking Hair) [Moisturize, Control & Boost Shine] Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Conditioner w/ Baobab Oil & Cilantro Extract (Frizzy, Split & Breaking Hair) [Moisturize, Control & Boost Shine]RANDOM BUY As I Am Moisture Milk (Daily Hair Revitalizer) [I bought this recently because I've heard people talk about how good the As I Am products are, so I bit the bullet and purchased this high priced bottle. It sucked all the moisture out of my hair. Just mentioning this in case someone suggests it as a product]I am thinking about stopping with Shea Moisture because I've noticed the products don't really seem to do anything for my hair (the original set) or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing. :( I'm going to try the new set and see how it turns out.Anyway, please help!

Hi, Im a 4c (15 by the way) and I think you may want to give Babassu Oil a try if you're looking for a coconut oil replacement: http://blackgirllonghair.com/2014/02/6-underrated-oils-and-butters-how-to-use-them-on-natural-hair/ Also, I recently started using Giovanni Natural Mousse Air Turbo Charged and love how it helps me to finger detangle ( Ive never really been able to b4 ). I got the natural mousse at my local sprouts on sale for 6.49 ( usually costs about 8.50, which I still consider fair for what it does). Maybe these will help out a bit, but I still use Jamaican Black Castor Oil to seal my ends so u could probably try that too if u like. Good luck :)
