Hello 60WavyHair,  A clarifying shampoo is a kind of "super-charged" shampoo perfect for those times when you're having product buildup. It's special in that it usually has stronger "surfactants" than daily shampoos and cowashes. It's healthy to use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks, or as you see fit. If your hair is noticeably greasier and or you see white flakes in your hair, it may be time for a clarifyer. It helps to get rid of grease and product that has accumulated over the weeks. I wouldn't use them once a week because they will dry out your hair. My favorite clarifying shampoos are: MopTop Rescue Clarifying Treatment - this stuff is strong! Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind Cleansing Shampoo http://Shop.NaturallyCurly.com/product/briogeo-be-gentle...Hope that helps!
