Pintura highlights + combing out hair?

So I have an appointment coming up to get Pintura highlights for my hair. I recently spoke to a colorist from the Devachan salon regarding a strange request from my stylist. She told me she wanted me to comb my hair out the morning of my appointment to make the coloring easier, and it came across a bit strange to me because it seemed completely against the ideals of Devacuts and all. The colorist from Devachan confirmed that, saying the best results are done on your hair in its natural state; aka curly. Now I'm scared and I'm not sure what to do. My appointment is in March, so I have time, but I can't decide what to do about this. Do I cancel the appointment, or just speak to her and see if she can do it on my hair curly? And is it really so bad to do it on my hair combed out? She didn't say she was going to straighten it or anything; just that it needed to be combed out...
