What is my hair type and what's the best way to moisturize my type?

I decided to do a big chop 9/4/2013 without any help whatsoever. Ever since I made the decision to go natural I have been trying to find a good way to moisturize my hair but don't know my type. When my hair is dry I feel like its a 4z but when its saturated in water its like a 3c. Part of my problem must be the moisture content of my hair but I don't know what to do. I have tried the LOC and LCO methods but my hair still seems thirsty. I would like to taylor my regimen to my hair type but can't seem to figure that out either... Please help!

Are you deep conditioning? Definitely try a deep conditioner and use a moisturizer in your dry hair. My favorite moisturizer is Oyin Handmade Hair Dew. Also, don't use sulfates in your hair. Try switching over to a cowash or sulfate free cleanser.
Thank you for the tip! I definitely deep condition once a week... I have been trying homemade conditioning treatments as well as store bought products. What I can say is I have learned is that I have low porosity hair... Knowing this will now help me tailor my regimen a bit. But I still feel like my strands are in need of moisture. *sigh*
