Should I cut my hair myself or is that recipe for disaster?

Hi! I have hair that is a little bit curlier then 3b but not as curly as 3c (a lot like the picture). There is not a single curly hair specialist in my area and I really need a trim. My mom used to cut it for me but she doesn't really know how because her hair is way different from mine (I am mixed...my mom is white and my dad is black). I really want to cut it myself and I'm really scared that I will mess it up but I'm willing to give it a try. Should I do it or should I wait until I'm traveling and in a place that has a specialist?I have looked on YouTube for a good video for my hair type but I can't find one that will work with my hair. If you have any tips or know of a video I should watch please let my know. Thanks

If you know how to cut your hair then go ahead. If you don't then find a hair stylist that know who to cut curly hair. You might have to go out of town but think of it like this: It's better than nothing!
if you haven't cut your before, try getting off on the right foot by looking for a stylist in your area who specializes in cutting curly hair first. Here's a link to the naturallycurly.com salon finder database- http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons/remember, leave the professional work to the professionals! :) you want to promote healthy hair growth.
