My hair is dry, damaged, and thin. I can't keep it from getting frizzy and tangled!

I have type 3A hair. Taking birth control caused my hair to fall out really bad, so I stopped taking it and it's stopped falling out but it's never returned to it's beautiful thickness that I used to have. My hair has never been the same after birth control. It gets tangled so easily, even 2 hours after I've showered and gently detangled it in the water. Currently I'm using Morrocan Oil shampoo and conditioner, then using actual Morrocan oil in my hair afterwards. I can barely go a day without showering because it gets SO TANGLED like literally it turns into a ball on my head. I wash every other day or less, and on the days I don't wash I sometimes just get into the shower and condition it and detangled it because it is not manageable otherwise and there's no way for me to make it look nice. I recently got a trim which hasn't seemed to help. My hair barely even grows anymore :( I haven't noticed growth in so long. Overall, I'm just asking for the best products to improve the health of my hair, make it grow, and make it more manageable. I used to have such beautiful curls and I want them back!

I'm so sorry you are struggling. Here is what I would do. Take 5000 units of biotin (it's a B vitamin good for hair growth) as well as Vit D! If you are using the Moroccan oil brand it has silicones in it which are like a plastic coating on your hair that makes it smooth but actually dries it out over time b/c moisture cannot penetrate the silicone layer. I would start following the Curly Girl Method for healthier hair! Lorraine Massey wrote the Curly Girl Handbook and the basic tenets are no sulfates, silicones, mineral oil, petroleum, parabens, in your products. One last shampoo with sulfates (assuming there are no silicones in it) will clarify your hair and then condition with a CG approved conditioner. Shea Moisture brand has several lines to choose from and they are great.  I would start there with the Coconut and Hibiscus shampoo and conditioner. I would also get a Hask Keratin Protein packet and deep condition with that. Kinky Curly Knot Today is an amazing detangling leave in (it's super light so if you need more moisture you can maybe add some of your conditioner after that??). Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave In is very moisturizing you can even use that after the KCKT. No detangling unless wet in the shower with conditioner in. No towel drying, use a T-shirt. Diffusing is fine but no blow drying straight if you want your curls healthy! The SM JBCO also has a styling lotion and the their Yucca and Plantain has a styling milk both will add hold and some moisture. If you need more hold I would go with LA Looks Sport Gel and then just scrunch out the crunch when it's dry. If you have fine hair DermOrganic Volume Foam is good and it's not crunchy! One other type of curl enhancing product to keep in mind once you start experimenting is Curl Keeper Original or Curl Junkie Curls in a Bottle. Hope that helps. Let me know what you do and how it goes! -- Best!
Hi,Your hair is damaged because of the pills you have taken for birth control. It will take time for your hair to get back to normal. In the meantime have a healthy balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits, omega 3 fatty acids and you should drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. You can even try out some packs for your hair.
