How can I reduce the poof that always happens after a shower?

Hi, well I am still getting used to my curly hair, and I really do love it. Whenever I get out of the shower it looks really pretty, but then a few minutes later it goes POOF! and I'd really really love to wear my hair out open to school and it just doesn't seem like I can. I can't even wear my hair in a half-up half-down style (I always have to wear buns) and I would like to have my hair to have the same look as when I got out of the shower. I don't know if that's possible, but I'd really like some advice! I use leave- in and I make sure I condition really good around twice a week, is there a method I can use, cause it seems like the frizz/poof is coming from the bottom section of my hair. Thanks!

I have very curly hair and it seems the more I touch/mess with my hair after a shower the frizzier it gets. So I brush my hair right before I wash it and I don't use any conditioner. When I get out I put coconut oil on my hair but not around the root area. Then I pile my hair on top of my head and  put a towel over my hair to absorb the excess water. After I take the towel off I don't mess with it, let it air dry. That is what has worked best for me.
