During wash and gos, why are my roots frizzy but my ends are curly?

I did the big chop 2 years ago. The beginning of this year I started to really embrace my curly hair. I get my ends trimmed every 12 weeks, I cut out sulfates and silicones. But when I do wash and go's my roots are still frizzy while my ends are curly. Why is that? How can I get my whole strand of hair to curl? Or even to get it to clump together? Using eco styler gel doesn't clump my hair well. Finger coiling and shingling doesn't always work either. I wash with Tresemme Naturals conditioner or Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo. Then I either deep condition with Mizani Kerafuse or VO5 Shea Cashmere Conditioner. With a leave in of Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave in with or without eco styler gel.

my hair looks nearly identical to your hair. I never do wash n go's but after I co wash, condition, I've noticed that my roots aren't as coiled as my ends. I thought it was because I always wear my hair in a ponytail and I'm pulling at the roots more than the ends because of the ponytail. But whenever I finger coil, I can get the complete length to curl. I've also noticed that Queen Helene Cholesterol mixed with jojoba oil and a hot steam cap will make the hair curl from roots to end. When I rinse that concoction, I've got spirals EVERYWHERE!
