What products do you recommend for LOC method? Hair details below:
My hair is very dense, coarse, and frizzy. I live in a hot and humid climate and love to go to the beach! I mainly use wash and go styles. I am new to this entire curly girl method and don't have a lot of money to spend on a lot of different products for trial runs so any advice is much appreciated as I'm ready to place an order from Curlmart as soon as I get answers to all my questions. So basically, which styling products will get me the curly girl look for my hair type and texture, and how would I go about using all of them? Yikes!I've been thinking about the following products after some research but figured some expert advice would help me out a lot more. The balancing shampoo and conditioner from Elucence, SheaMoisture Co-conditioner, Curl Junkie Curl Rehab Treatment, Kinky-curly Knot Today for leave-in, oil?? (my hair is low porosity, it mainly floats in water while barely half will sink so not sure which oils would be best for my porosity) and not sure which cream product to try as there are so many! I'm also thinking of getting Curl Keeper Original or Curls In A Bottle as a finishing product after my LOC to help control frizz. If that's a good idea, which one should I get?I don't like crunchy hair but I'm not opposed to scrunching out if it promises soft, bouncy, frizz-free hair. Thank you for all your help, it is much needed and much appreciated!PS. I prefer to stay on the cheaper side most of the time but when I can I like to get some higher end products. Maybe a list of all recommended products in low and high end, if it's not too much trouble, so I can pick and choose? Thanks again!
Hi MrsCraddock, Those are all excellent choices in my opinion. I love the Balancing Conditioner by Elucence. Everyone loves SheaMoisture, you can't go wrong with them. I've never tried Curl Junkie Curl Rehab, but I absolutely love Kinky-Curly Knot Today (so does everybody on the planet, so you're safe there). Curl Keeper Original is great! It's a strange hybrid of serum and gel that works. I've never tried Curl Junkie Curls in a Bottle, but it's won awards. Basically, all of your choices are great and you can't go wrong with them! However, with that said, if you want to follow the LOC method, I would be careful with how much oil you put in your hair. Because you have low porosity hair, the oil could trap the water in your hair and your hair might take a really long time to dry. This happens to me. Because of this, I prefer the LCO method (leave-in, cream, oil last). I don't apply oil until my hair is dry. My recommendations for LCO method are: Leave in = Kinky Curly Knot Today Cream = SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Style Milk or DevaCurl Style Cream or Briogeo 2 in 1 Cream. Oil = Darshana Indian Oil or U R Curly Absynnian Oil (both in CurlMart) Hope this helps!!
Good post because I have the same issue. And I am definetly going to check out curlmart. but one thing I wanted to know how often do you o the lco method? Only on wash day or everyday?
