Is my hair damaged and needs cut or just extremely dry?

I straightened my hair for the first time in months. Now most of my ends are dry and brittle and won't even curl. It was actually pretty dry and brittle before I washed it. But I washed and deep conditioned, then straightened. I haven't been taking good care of it wearing it natural, not tying it up at night, not moisturizing. So I'm just wondering if as dry and brittle as my ends are, does it need cut or more conditioning?

Dry ends can cause split ends, freshening up the ends would be a good choice, then keep conditioning
