Is too little humidity a bad thing?

My hair used to be between 2C and 3A but recently my hair has not been holding a curl or even a wave for that matter.  I used to be able to put some mousse in, let it air dry or go to bed and wake up with my hair looking fine.  Now I've tried using curlers, more expensive products, twisting, scrunching, gels, creams, a new haircut, and nothing seems to be helping.  I moved from New England to Denver around 6 months ago and I was wondering if the low-humidity, arid climate has made my hair go limp.  I never thought I would miss rainy New England.  Has anyone else had this problem or any tips to offer?
