Very short, 4C, coarse and hard. What products can I use to style?

I am a runner so my hair has always been short to some degree.  I could go from tappered sides to a brush cut with no problem I texturized my hair for years because it very coarse and thick, and dry without it.  I recently cut my hair. Not as low as a ceaser, but low enough for a brush cut.  I am trying to stay away from texturizing my hair, but my hair is still hard and coarse. I deep condition with Pantene Pro V truly natural.  I just want my hair to be softer and not feel like brillo

I would suggest staying away from harsh sulfates. Here are some suggestions.
