What's the best way to air dry hair when you want to reduce curls?

This is what I normally do on my thick 2c/3a hair: Towel dry hair. Rotate between multiple versions of ponytail, hair bun, and pigtails until fully dry about 10 hours later. This process kind of works but is ridiculously complicated and takes all day! Surely there must be a better method than mine. Any suggestions? Maybe some alternate version of plopping? Thanks!

Braiding it tightly works for some people. You can also put it in a tight bun. Both of these things take forever to dry though, so I recommend drying with a diffuser. It causes less friss, and it's faster than air drying.
I've heard the braiding technique works.
