Why is my hair still straight?

I have never had a perm however for the past 15 years I have been religious blow drying and flat ironing my hair. I have decided 2 weeks ago to go natural but when I wear my hair natural the ends of my hair are still straight. I don't want to do the big chop, will my hair eventually learn to curl or will I just have to grow out?

Most likely you will have to cut the very damaged ends off. There are things to get it in the best condition possible and if those don't work then cutting is the only option. In the mean time I'd look into a serious protein treatment like Aphogee, start deep conditioning 2x a week, following the Curly Girl method and adopting some good protective styling methods or twist outs in lieu of heat styling.
