Hello! That is a common problem that I hear a lot of people have when they over straighten. The first step is to cut off a good amount of hair or keep up with regular trims. I do not straighten very often anymore, but my hair was becoming so long that I was having an issue with it being super curly up high and straight and stringy at the bottom. I cut about 3.5 inches and my curls are much springier now. Also here is a link I found on NC for some transition tips: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/kinky-h...
It sounds like it may be time for a trim!
It's definitely time for a trim. Your hairdresser will be able to advise just how much needs to go, but the cut will be the first step. Then I would recommend deep conditioning at least once a week to bring the moisture back into your damaged hair. Last of all, if you're going to straighten again make sure to use a heat protectant before hand!
