Started going natural, but I have a lot of questions...

I started straightening my hair about 5 years ago and I started going a little over a year ago. When my hair was natural I used to always wear it in a tight braid (since I was around 12 years old). I used shampoo then conditioner and let my hair dry then applied heat protectant, brushed it out, and then straightened it. I can tell this has led to a lot of damage as my hair is not as silky as it used to be when I was younger. When I started going natural, I used TRESemme Curl Hydration shampoo and conditioner and then applied their curl hydration mousse and slept on it (I only wash my hair once a week because it almost reaches my knees). Recently I've started using Aussie Mega Moist shampoo, then getting out of the shower and applying Cantu Intensive Repair hair mask and letting it sit for a few hours, getting back into the shower and applying Aussie 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner, then applying the normal moist conditioner. After I get out, I use the Cantu leave in conditioner repair cream and then finish it off with TRESemme flawless curls mousse. However, I don't notice my hair getting any softer or silkier, plus there's breakage and I can tell my hair is very damaged. I really do not want to go for a haircut and I've been avoiding it since my parents would kill me. How can I change up my routine to make my hair silkier and get rid of heat damage/breakage?
