How do you transition if your heat damage is actually CURLIER than your natural vergin hair?

About two years ago I stopped using heat and went natural. At the beginning I thought my was just really curly, but as the heat damage began to grow out, I realized that my natural curl pattern was loser than the damage! Right now, it is actually harder to style my hair now than when I first started, due to the puffy defineless heat damage and the silly smooth vergin hair. What do I do? I don't want to big chop, are there any other tips or alternatives? And how can I style my hair during this awkward stage?

You can protective style with twists etc, or you can manipulate your curls without heat by doing roller sets or using perm rods if you dont want to big chop. Hope this helps xo :)
