It looks very curly to me. I'm not sure what you mean by parting it first. I would recommend only finger detangling and finger combing when wet with conditioner and applying your moisturizer and then a curl enhancing cream, pudding or custard while your hair is still wet. Only use your fingers in a smoothing, scrunching or raking pattern to apply product. Pay attention to which method of application with your fingers gives you better curl definition and doesn't disturb the curls that have already formed in the shower or from the curl enhancer. If the curls tend to frizz out after drying, use a gel or custard while your hair is wet to help set the style. Try not to touch it as it dries and if it starts to dry while styling it, get a spray bottle with water and re-wet it. Style setting products I recommend: EDEN BodyWorks Coconut Shea Pudding SouffleAs I Am Curling Jelly Coil and Curl DefinerI hope that helps!
