Plopping = disaster style. Help!

I plopped and the top of my hair is very tightly curled to my scalp and the style is not feeling good. I'm disabled and I'm trying to simplify drying time, I usually put up in a towel (I know!) and then shortly take it down, apply product and with a spray bottle and dense brush I create twisted large sections that set aa they dry and then I SOTC and it lasts days. I need to be able to at least finger style or create large clumped sections before drying, diffusing takes a long time and I can't hold the dryer for long. Is there a way to style before plopping or does anyone have any ideas? Right now it is also stringy all over and the top looks crazy since it's usually stretched I'm 3b, long and high porosity
