How to keep hair from looking stringy? Help!

I showered and used a DIY oil and honey conditioner. After, I put in the Eden Bodyworks Coconut Shea Leave-In and sprayed with DevaCurl SprayGel. I scrunched and slept with my hair wrapped in silk. I woke up and like the moisture of my curls and the fact that it's curlier, but my curls are stringy not bigger like previously.

Did you try scrunching your curls after they dried? Try gently scrunching your dried hair to break up some of the product film. You can also carefully run your fingers through your roots; work in small sections (3-4 fingers at a time) & gently lift the root a 1/2 to 1 inch up away from your scalp. You don't want to disturb the curls, again, you just want to break up the product film at your roots. If this doesn't work, you might want to try a smaller amount of styling product or leave out the gel entirely & see how your hair responds. Finally, if you are just looking to have your curls clump up in bigger clumps, using a regular bristled or a Denman brush, brush your hair through with slow, firm strokes after you apply your Leave-In. Try to only run the brush over each section once. If you brush too fast, you may tangle & rip at your hair, so be careful! Then spray on the gel & gently scrunch in small sections to retain the clumped curls.
try the scrunching method. here's a slideshow tutorial:
