Anthony is AMAZING!!! After going to stylists who didn't specialize in cutting curly hair, I was always left with a bad shape when they straightened my hair and layered it from there. Anthony will cut your hair curly (in the state you normally wear it) and give you a great style ans shape. He really helped me nurse my hair back to health from years of straightening and heat damage. He also really CARES about the health of your hair. When I went in wanting to go blonde (from having dark brown hair) he told me he didn't want to do it because it would ruin my hair. I really appreciated that. He didn't want to color my hair just for a check. Definitely try him out! I have never regretted getting a haircut after I left his salon.

Norwood and Company has closed, but Anthony can still be found at the number above. When I moved to the Dallas area three years ago, despite sometimes spending close to $200 on haircuts, I had never left a salon happy enough with my cut that I didnt cut on it when I got home. I found Anthony through this site and have absolutely LOVED every cut I have gotten from him! I was devastated when I learned N&C had closed and I couldn't get in touch with him. After a lot of googling (and maybe a little FB stalking :)) I found him again and was so happy to get back in his chair! I would absolutely recommend him to any one else searching for a stylist!

After reading all of his reviews, I finally made an appt with him this week. I am sooo GLAD I did!! My sister and I schedule our appt back to back so we can go together. When we walked in, he greeted us with a smile and walked us back to his room. I went first. He started to ask questions about my hair and what I wanted. He explain alot about curly that I didn't know. He was very talkative and friendly. He diffuse my hair (which was my first time) after he cut it dry and washed and it came out beautiful. My curls have never felt so soft or look so bouncy and felt so light in my entire life. The weight I used to feel in the back of my head is gone and my sister's headaches she used to get are also gone. He will be the only one that touches my hair. After so many years of going to other salons, I'm glad I found him. If you have curly hair, go see him. You will be satisfied with the outcome.

I am no longer a "curly girl" type of cut "virgin". Read all the reviews here and called to set up an appointment with the famous Anthony and was pleasantly surprised that he himself answered the phone! Talked to him for over ten minutes, made my appointment for the 4th of Jan., and wanted to give my hair a week to see how it "relaxed" before coming on here to review him. The haircut was great, and my hair looked great... when I left. I had to work with my hair a few days to get it to look the way it did when I left the salon, but even then I asked Anthony IF I had a problem re-creating his work if I could come back and he said YES! What a guy! Hows THAT for customer service?!?! I am not going just yet, as I KNOW I have the ability to learn how to tame these psycho curls that want to do whatever they want to do, no matter who it is working with them! Give Anthony a chance, and learn from him if you are like me, a 42 year old who has been traumatized by haircut after haircut by someone who just does not have the training for curls. I am truly so happy with my hair, it looks 1000% better than it ever has, even under my UN-skilled hands. Thanks Anthony for listening to my excited prattle the entire haircut, even if I talked so much about how excited I was to be there! You have given me hope and you are now, MY hairstylist and even though I do NOT want to share you, I will (reluctantly).

I found Anthony about a year ago from a fellow curly girl at church and had just decided to convert to a full blown curly girl (I had short hair at the time). I waited about 6 months and scheduled my first cut with Anthony last summer about a week before my son's wedding. He spent plenty of time getting to know my hair and discussing what would look good for the wedding before he began cutting. As everyone has stated, he did a fabulous job and I decided to let him style it the day of the wedding. We consulted his calendar and discovered there were no openings but Anthony gave me a time and said he'd work me in. The day of the wedding my curls couldn't have cooperated better. They looked great (though it was 110 degrees). I arrived at NoCo and Anthony worked his magic with little jeweled "screw in" thingies and fancy bobby pins and it looked wonderful. I got many compliments on it from wedding guests. And to top it all off, when it came time to pay, Anthony told me it was "on the house". I've been back once since then and as my curls grow out they're looking (and feeling) better and better. I would highly recommend Anthony to my curly friends.

Anthony's dry cut is dead on, that was my first dry cut and I see now why as a curly 3B it's the way to go. Anthony takes plenty of time getting to know your hair and your preferences before he gets started. I love that he didn't try to tell me I needed a cut more than twice a year and he didn't try to push any product on me. He's a true curly hair genius.

So I always thought getting my curly hair cut dry wasn't necessary... until my last hair cut looked horrible on my curls and made the ends frizzy. So I decided to go to this salon based on all the great reviews. The results? This salon exceeded all my expectations. No, I take that back. Anthony exceeded all my expectations. He discussed my hair and told me what he thought he should do. He gave me tips and was super patient and calm the whole time. Yes it's true- his head massage feels amazing while he's washing your hair. He cut it dry first, which was awesome and makes sense. He styled it for me and showed me how to do it myself. I have NEVER left a salon with my hair dry... until I went here. I left with my curly hair CURLY and DRY. My curls were beautiful. I loved the cut. Anyone with curly hair that lives nearby needs to go here. I thought it was funny how the only bad reviews for Anthony were people with straight hair. Now you know how we feel when we get our hair cut with people that only know how to cut it straight!

I reviewed this salon about six months ago, after I had been going there about a year, but since Anthony has started cutting my son and daughter's hair, I wanted to review again. So, he's been cutting my hair for about 18 months, I guess. I found him on this website, and it was the greatest thing ever. I love my curls. He did more than dry cut my hair, he taught me to take care of my hair. Not washing it everyday, how to dry it properly, etc. Everyone I know comments on how soft and healthy my hair looks, where used to it was hard and crunchy curls with tons of product, now it's minimum product. I am no longer afraid to go swimming, because my curls will be gone! He is extremely professional and always spends time looking to see what is necessary, instead of scheduling color/cut every six weeks. Sometimes, I think "Don't you need the money? You should cut it more.", but he wants the curls to grow where they are cut at the right time. I WILL say, since lots of people have complained about the different lengths, my hair looks GREAT curly, but with this type of cut, I am unable to do it straight anymore. There are just too many layers. My son is 2.5 years old. Anthony gave him his first cut because I was worried about what to do about his curls. It was a cute cut, but I didn't think much of it, so I took him to a kid salon and a Pro-cut type salon twice and they butchered it. I was so frustrated, so I drove 45 minutes back to Arlington and over the past six months, Anthony has patiently worked with his hair until it grew, and now he has the cutest cut ever. Anthony is so patient and creative, because 1.) He is not a kid-cuts, but he obliges me. 2.)I had no idea how to cut a curly haired boy's hair, but he looked at it for a long time and made suggestions before cutting it and now we LOVE it. My husband who could care less about haircuts, LOVES it and doesn't want me to take him anywhere else. As far as straight cuts, the same goes for my daughter (4.5yo) I took her to kid cut places and they cut it straight across the bottom. She has straight hair with lots of body. Anthony cuts it in a really cute style for her age and dries it straight, to where if I had straight hair, I would want it like hers. As far as customer service, I went to this salon back in 2001 to the owner's son. I was traveling with work a lot and had to reschedule several appointments and might have missed one appointment, if that. Mostly it was rescheduling. I was "fired" as a client. It was VERY odd. I have never had that happen in a customer service industry. In fact, when I realized it was this salon when I found raving reviews about Anthony, I was apprehensive about booking. But, I am so glad I did. Susan is very friendly and I have had to reschedule a few times, due to having two kids and my own business. I pray I never get "fired" again because I am really, really happy with Anthony.

I have been really happy with my hair since Anthony started cutting it. I recommended him to many friends. My daughter drove 4 hours to have him cut her hair. Things went wrong( I locked the keys in the car) and we were going to be 15 minutes late so I called to tell them we were still coming and begged him to fit us in. Susan the receptionist said too bad, this was the last appointment of the day and they didn't want to wait, we would have to reschedule. The appointment was for 3:45 and their published hours are to 6, I was willing to forgo the drying to make up the time or wait till later in the evening or even the next morning but she was not open to discussion, we were not getting a haircut that day or the next. Anthony is great, the salon is lovely and I may be unreasonable, but 15 minutes, on a Friday afternoon for a repeat customer after she told me he didn't have another appointment waiting - was I that unreasonable in asking? I recommend Anthony highly, and its a nice salon, but I probably won't go back. I hear there is a new Ouidad trained stylist in flower mound. I will have to check them out.

It's been a long time since I had my hair cut and it was a HUGE mess. I made an appointment with Anthony. He is the sweetest person. He spent time looking my hair over and talking to me about how to care for my hair - no sulfates, cowashing, no flat irons, etc. This was the first dry cut I've ever had. It was a little nerve racking at first, but the end result was fabulous. I never say that about my hair! It looks modern and my hair has never curled so well. After the cut, he washed, conditioned and applied styling product to my hair. I had never used Aveda products before and they smell heavenly; not sweet, but fresh and organic. He gave me a scalp massage that almost put me to sleep. Afterwards, he diffused my hair and showed me how to style it. I hope I can do it myself. I cannot say enough good things about Anthony. When I got home, my husband even commented how good my hair looked. He said the back and top was shaped really nicely. He never pays attention to my hair. I am definitely going back!

Okay, just gotta jump on the Anthony bandwagon! I went to him after reading the reviews here and I'm so glad I did! I've never in my life had a dry cut before. It was always the same old song and dance; get it wet, pull it straight down, cut, then panic as it curls back up. Before seeing Anthony, my last cut had been over a year ago. Like other reviewers have said, he spent quite a while studying it before he took scissors to it, and he told me what he thought should be done, which for me was great! Usually you have to go into detail on what you want, and the problem is I never know. He layered it, then washed and styled it. It's never curled up this much, ever! (I only hope I can recreate the results.) It started raining while he was cutting my hair, and Anthony walked me out to my car with an umbrella! So sweet! (Would've been a shame to mess up that new 'do!) Oh, and as another reviewer has mentioned (and I think it bears repeating), they don't take tips on credit/debit cards like a restaurant does, so make sure to bring cash! Give Anthony a try, you won't be sorry!

OK, so after reading all the 'rave' reviews about Anthony, I decided to give him a try. After all the salon is very handy to my home AND I am accustomed to having my hair cut DRY from back home (moved here recently from out of state). Dry cutters are seemingly hard to find, you know. Anyways, here's my lowdown: The salon is very beautiful and it has a super relaxing atmosphere! Everyone there is helpful & friendly (I especially love the owner, BJ and his wife, Susan, who works the reception desk). They are delightful in every way! Anthony is a great guy. Very nice, sweet, gentle personality. I do, however, agree with the reviewer who stated that his specialty seems to be cutting CURLY hair. My hair is mostly straight (thick, slight wave, and long). After going to him, I am just astounded at all the 'out of this world' reviews about him. I wouldn't NOT go back to him, but I didn't think he was the be all, end all either. Maybe slightly above average at best. First of all, he lacks knowledge and confidence (probably because he has only been a hair stylist for 5 years at the most) Surely those things will come with time and that's OK. Everyone starts somewhere. He is VERY LUCKY that someone like BJ took him in and trained him. BJ has over 21 years hair experience, and from what I gather, is an EXCEPTIONAL hair stylist. Again, though, just adding my thoughts here. Maybe he does wonders with super curly hair like some people have said in this forum?? He's not terrible by any means, but I just guess I was expecting to be a little happier with my cut after reading these posts. I did not experience all the "time he spends examining the hair type and talking about client's expectations, etc." Oh well.... On a positive note, though, the salon has many positive attributes such as encouraging healthy hair practices (i.e. no straight irons, curling irons and no all over permanent hair colors, however they do foil highlights). Their philosophy is just 'going with your natural hair' and that is refreshing to find in an upscale salon. All in all, yes you should give this salon a try. Just maybe don't expect a miracle??? Be realistic, and I think you'll be happy with the end result. (Give BJ a try, IF you can stomach his $85.00 and up haircuts!)

After several horrific haircuts by stylists all over, including some of the self-proclaimed "best", my confidence was shot. After all, the first thing you notice on a person is their hair and I could not hold my head up high with frizzy, dry curls when I left the house everyday. Soon, I began to hear people talking about Anthony, so I checked him out on this wed site. There were lots of good reviews and a few bad. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the bad ones. I went and saw him. He expertly layered my hair, showed me the proper way to apply the product and style it. It was not your run of the mill curly haircut. It was versatile, well-groomed and most importantly, full of movement. It was sexy. Seriously, for the first time in my life, my curly hair was SEXY! Everyone at the salon is so kind and professional. Don't wait. Go now. I promise you will not be disappointed. I wish I knew about them sooner!

I moved here couple months ago. I was very nervous about finding a new stylist for my very curly hair, as I loved my stylist in NYC. I decided to try out Anthony at Norwood and company after reading the good reviews on this site, and I am so happy with my haircut. Anthony made sure that I felt comfortable with my hairstyle throughout the cut, listened to my concerns about my curl pattern, encouraged me to tell him about the way that I want my hair to look, and made great suggestions for a new look. I LOVED the way he cut and styled my hair. I would highly recommend him to anyone with curly hair. On top of that, he is super sweet and cute!!! Everyone in the salon was nice. What can I say about this salon. The receptionist was very nice, but Anthony's hair cut leaves a lot to be desired. I am extremely disappoint to report that I have received one of the top 3 worst hair cuts in my life. I won't be back--and I certainly do not trust him to "fix" what he did and here is why. Before Anthony started cutting we discussed looks I liked (I brought pictures) and didn't, how I liked to style my hair, products I use, what did and didn't work for me, etc. Well guess what? He did everything we agreed would NOT work for my hair. I have had dry hair cuts before and absolutely LOVED them, unfortunately the people who did them aren't from around here or I would have gone there instead. Seriously, you know you have gotten a bad cut when you get home from your hair appointment and your family cringes at the site of you and politely asks if you would like for them to make an appointment elsewhere to see if someone can salvage your hair. I have tried working with the mess he left me with and I can't seem to get a respectable look with my hair down so needless to say, I will be wearing my hair pulled back for the next 4 to 5 months. That is what it will take to let it grow out enough to be able to get it fixed!

What can I say about Anthony...I love, love, LOVE HIM! He is by far the best stylist that I have ever been to. Before he started cutting my hair it was long, bleach blond, dry and full of split ends. I would pretty much just flat iron it every day. I knew I had some curl to my hair but never knew really how to fix it. Now, because of Anthony, I am a pro when it comes to wearing curly hair. My hair still looks great straight! I love the color of my hair. It is more natural and makes me look beautiful. I am a mom and work full time. I don't have the luxury of spending a lot of time on my hair. Anthony realized I needed a cut that would fit my lifestyle and keep me looking great. He hit his mark. I get compliments on my hair all the time even when I took only 5 seconds fixing it. It's awesome! Thanks Anthony

First let me preface this with saying that Anthony is a great guy! If you have thick curly hair, by all means go to him. I actually met "jhawk" the day she was in and her hair did look awesome! I was right after her and was so excited after seeing her hair. Mine however, did not come out that great. I do not like my haircut, I have been crying for 4 days over it. I think that the choppy, random way that the hair is cut does not work well for very fine hair. The different lengths are VERY visible and instead of giving volume it just looks thinner in those spots. Fine hair girls need to beware of cuts that take out sections like that. Also I had almost bra strap length hair when I came in (took me a long time to grow it!!) and left with hair that just touches my shoulders. I can't even look in the mirror yet. I guess it's baseball caps and inventive hairclips for a few months for me!

I never feel as if I should have come back in sooner! He cuts my layers so they look good at all the lengths I achieve over the year or so. Even though I have tried other ways, I have gone back and stayed with his recommended hair care routine. He just knows! :-) Plus, it is what enables me to wait so long before wanting (not needing) a cut. Even if he weren't the charming, engaging, nice guy he is, I would still go to him because he is just that good. My appointment was Dec. 16, so as you can see, it has been a month. My hair was really dried out from over-processing (according to Anthony) and I had recently (within the last two months) had a bad cut, ugh! In desperation, I was searching the internet one night, trying to figure out what the heck was going on with my hair. It's like playing roulette each morning, some days I have great hairdays...some days awful. I read the reviews of several salons and was most impressed by all the nice things said about Anthony. Anthony was GREAT. He spent ALOT of time talking about the texture of my hair, the type of curls I had, products, how to use products, things I had never heard of...like not to wash with shampoo everyday. He cut my hair dry, as you have heard of by now! It was interesting. He did some highlights, then washed, dryed, and I was on my way. He told me before I started my curls were in bad shape and the cut/color would not be a "quick fix." So, to say the least...I was disappointed with my hair when I first saw it "finished." I still had a lot of frizz and not very thick curls (which I knew my hair was capable of!) However, when he must has seen my disappointment, he showed me the back of my hair....the less over-processed part and said this is our goal, I was like WOW!!! So, the reason I waited so long to post was to see the changes and be able to rant and rave in excitement about Anthony's knowledge! I have only been conditioning now for a month...sometimes I just rinse. I use the products he recommended (Aveda Be Curly) and put it in while in the shower and never brush my hair anymore. A month later...I walked in a hospital room to visit a friend this morning and saw a group of friends I haven't seen in a while...and everyone said "wow, your hair looks GREAT!!!" It has been a SLOW process...but I am so grateful to have found someone that "gets" my hair. The necessary cut, color, products, how to's, etc. AND I can not say enough positive things about Anthony. He was very positive, yet very honest. I admire that in any service person. The salon has a really cool and spa-like feeling...so you leave feeling relaxed. The staff was VERY friendly!!! Anthony offered products but didn't push them. He also said I would only need a haircut two or three times a year...now that's cool! I am scheudled again in February for highlights again. Give him a try...I promise you will be pleased!!! ...and by the way...bad hairdays now...about 1 in 7, usually because I get in a hurry and try to dry it too fast.

Thanks for all the helpful reviews and recommendations for Anthony! I had my first appointment with him yesterday and had to come back to add another happy customer vote. My experience was like the others describe here, so I'll just say that, on top of coming away with a great cut, what meant the most was the time he took and his understanding of the hair I'm working with. I've always dreaded haircuts because they've always involved comments about the frizz and how lucky I am that they're taking the time to blowdry me straight, etc., etc. This was the first time in my 30 years that anyone has ever said, "I really love your hair!" and "Why would you want to straighten these curls?" Just making me feel good about what I can't change counts for a lot in my book. He's even going to do some research for me about coloring after I've hennaed my hair. Plus, he's cute, funny, and very personable. He likened the dry cutting process to shaping a bonsai tree (Ha!), and that really makes sense to me looking at all the shape and life in my hair now. It doesn't make sense to cut curly hair straight across the bottom or into a few level layers. (He cuts all kinds of hair, though, so send your straight-hair friends, too!) And FYI that they've moved to 2346 Road to Six Flags E as of August 2008.

When I first arrived, they asked me if I wanted something to drink. I was in jeans and a old t-shirt and they treated my like I was at one of those high dollar salons and was dressed better than I was. Then Anthony spent quite some time looking at my hair and asked what my goal for my type 3b hair (I want to grow it out again). He had his work cut out for him because my hair had been butchered by someone someone else (that'll teach me). Every other review here was spot on so I won't go on gushing about Anthony or the entire salon staff, instead I will give some recommendations and observations. Since he cuts the hair dry (Yay!), if you get your curl structure through plopping, do so that morning and just make certain that it is dry before you go in. They are not allowed to "plop" there and even he admits that the curl structure is quite different when you pat your hair dry leaning backwards than forwards. Also, after cutting, when he washed my hair he gave a short neck and forehead massage along with the usual scalp massage that comes with the hair washing. He told me that he read every curly hair book that he could put his hands on, including Ouidad's book as well as Massey's, and has taken as many classes on curly hair that he could. If your hair is in good condition and you take good care of it, he will not insist that you come back "every 6 weeks". He says most curly hair does not need that. When he dries curly hair he uses 2 hairdryers with diffusers. The salon as a whole does not do perms or relaxers/softeners. There is not a curling iron or flat iron anywhere in the place. Their hair coloring is semi-permanent from because they feel that permanent hair coloring does too much damage. They have a sign explaining that their stylist are experts in cutting and styling natural hair and bringing out it's own natural beauty instead of forcing it into something it is not. A wonderful philosophy for us curlies.. but a good one for straights as well. After being in North Texas for 12 years and NEVER once found a haircutter (or hair cut) that I liked, I have finally found my permanent stylist. If he should move to another salon, I will probably move my business with him. If he moves out of state, then I will try someone else at that salon. He is a dream come true. I took the advice of everyone here and went to NoCo and asked for Anthony. When I went in to make my appointment he was there so he sat me down for about 15-20 minutes for a consultation prior to my appointment. He asked me what I wanted done and looked at my hair, lifting it up and looking underneath and everything. I left feeling good about the appointment. At appointment time he cut it dry and added the volumizing layers we'd spoken of, then washed it and added product. Then he used two dryers with diffusers side by side. He'd warned me about my hair pulling up tighter and sure enough, it did! I walked out of there with the beautiful botticelli curls I'd always dreamed of! I was thrilled. I tried to do it at home and couldn't do it -- my only sad point. I'm going to go back and ask him what he did, or what he used. I wish I could fold Anthony up and put him in my pocket! He's that good, ladies. Highly recommend.

I found Norwood and Company from the NC website. I'd been looking for someone who could teach me how to deal with my hair. I'd been straightening it for 20+ years. Anthony spent over 30 minutes just asking me questions, looking at, touching and getting to know my hair. He did a fantastic job cutting it. He explained how to work with it to make the most of my curls. It's still a work in progress, but it gets better every day. I've recommended him to every curly friend I have.

This place is great. They work with your hair, not against it. They don't have straightening irons or curling irons in the place! My hair was dry, frizzy and just unruly. Anthony looked at my hair, moved it around, pulled it back, then told me what he thought it needed. I told him to do what was necessary. He cut my hair dry then washed it and dried it. My curls were so bouncy, full and shiney. I love it. I'm still working with it and trying to get it to look as good as he got it (minus the products he used which are too pricey for me, although the price for the cut was very reasonable). The ONLY problem I have is I can't really wear it straight if I get the urge (I love my curly hair but I also love the option of wearing straight). Because he cut it dry it's not all even so when it's straight it looks like a 5 year old took scissors to it :) Overall though, I love it and have already recommended him to all my curly haired friends.

You'll get the best haircut you've ever had. I drove regularly 200 miles to his salon because he's that good.

Travis is awesome!! He not only had read Curly Girl, but recommended following its philosophy. He took his time with me and talked me through everything. The haircut was a process. He washed my hair first and then Nicole diffused it taking her time and making sure it didn't frizz. After it was dry, he cut it. The whole thing took a while which was a first and something that I'm thankful for! Too many times I was in and out in 20 minutes with a bad cut. At NoCo, I was there over an hour while Travis and Nicole talked me through things and styled my very curly hair. I have found my salon and will not go anywhere else! Travis and Nicole are AWESOME!!

I found Anthony through this website. He is great! I had a baby this past year and my hair was a mess. Half of it had fallen out and the curls changed. I was at a loss and considering going straight. Somehow, Anthony got it looking good again and I am very happy with it.

Wow! I found Norwood and Anthony from NC.com and was not disappointed by my experience. Anthony spent time talking about my hair, what was normal, what I wanted out of a cut, etc. He's taken classes at Devachan and has read Curly Girl, so he knew to cut my hair dry -- the first time I've ever had a stylist cut it dry! He then co-washed and styled my hair. Not too spendy, but a great cut. Great salon! Great stylist! Great experience!

Anthony spent an hour with me. He talked to me about taking care of my curls and about what style would work best on me. For years, I have lived in fear of salons and having my hair cut. No matter what I said, I always ended up with layers and "earmuffs" on the sides of my head. That didn't happen this time; Anthony cut my hair dry so I knew exactly what it would like. This was the absolute best experience I have ever had in a salon. Everyone there was so nice. You should definately give them a try.

It had been 18 months since my last haircut and with a friends wedding fast approaching in October I decided to bite the bullet and get something done with the wild mass of hair before then just in case I needed to let it grow back out and get it fixed before hand. I randomly chose Norwood just driving by and was very surprised by the wonderful staff and their knowledge. Anthony was patient and took the time to talk me through the cut and care of my hair. (Something no one has ever done before!!!) No brush no shampoo…no dryer.. I swear! Everyone had read the CURLY GIRL book and insisted I go get a copy which I did. I would never have found it without them. What a Great Place…please give them a try!
