I guess there's not much more that can be said for Debra, but I'll try... I found Debra through a friend's recommendation that I check this site. I had been going to another salon in town since I moved here, but I was tired of feeling like my best interests didn't matter; tired of having Moroccan Oil used on my curls when I'd asked repeatedly to leave it off; tired of looking like my mother, who never had a stylish or attractive thought in her head. Upon walking into Debra's shop, I immediately felt comfortable. She works for and by herself—great news for an anti-social gal such as myself. We chatted for several minutes about my hair, and she was very competent in explaining the basics of cutting for facial shape, texture, etc. She made a layman feel very informed and I trusted her completely. My previous stylist had been cutting these layers that grew out unevenly, which meant that I wore my hair in a pony more often than not. She explained to me why that happened and what she would do to keep it from happening. And you know what? 8 weeks later, I'm ready for a trim, but my shape is still perfect. Debra is WONDERFUL! I highly recommend checking out Debra at Tangles. I had a very similar experience to Ldelane. I have 3b natural curls and Debra cut it dry and brushed out. Most stylists whisk you back to the shampoo station right away. Debra took her time cutting it and even talked with me about the shape of my face and what would work best for it. The cut she gave me is the first one where I liked it immediately, instead of having to live with it a few days first. No doubt about it, this woman knows how to cut curly hair!

I am new to Ventura. I had not had my hair cut in about a year. My hair is a strong soft curl-about 2C. I did not know this until I found this website. I called Debra for an appointment. She asked me questions about my hair, and said it sounded like a 2C. Wow! But, knowing a hair number, and cutting my hair right are 2 different things. I have had many awful haircuts in my life. Every stylist has cut my hair wet. Debra cut it dry. Her studio is clean, and private. She offered me coffee or water, and spent a good deal of time on consultation. She told me her cutting method before she started. Debra did an amazing job on my hair, taking small sections after "we" established the "guide" as she called it. After the cut she washed it, and then "checked" the cut wet. She allowed me to style my hair with the diffuser (she put all her curly products out for me to use). When I was done she had me stand and we looked in the mirror for balance, to see if there were any stray straight hairs that needed snipped. I am not afraid of getting my hair cut anymore. I'm ready to go back. it's been 4 months. I told her I would write a great review, so I want to keep my word before I go back. Debra is very friendly. I felt comfortable, not rushed. I have had many compliments on my hair, and have referred a couple of people. Thank you Naturally Curly for your website, where I found Debra, who gave me my beautiful hair that was hidden under previous bad haircuts. It's still great. I want to keep it that way by getting my ends trimmed.

I contacted Debra after I read all the great reviews on this website. Approaching the age where I need to look professional for job interviews, I started to get even MORE insecure about my hair. I have never, ever, had my hair cut by a "curly professional". I've always walked out of salons feeling a little terrible. My hair would be blown dry and straightened, cut without my natural texture taken into account. By the time I would shower and do it myself, I would like like a hot mess. Not with Debra. Debra took one look at my hair and explained what she was going to do and why. She looked at my face shape, told me she would cut it dry, and not to be afraid. She was so kind. She made me a cup of coffee, talked about my hair with me, and made me look great. She even got out her colors sheets and told me what colors to wear, jewelry to choose, and how to wear my hair for job interviews. Debra is fantastic! Anyone in Ventura County with curly hair should seek her out.

I found Debra from this website. I've been getting my hair cut by her regularly for 2 years. She is amazing at what she does! She always makes my hair look just like the pictures and the last couple of times that I haven't had pictures and just described what I wanted she made my hair look even better than I had envisioned! She is truly an artist! She has cut my hair before several major events and I always get wonderful comments on my hair. Thanks, Debra!

I found Tangles on this website. She has great reviews, so I decided to visit her. So glad I did. She did a great job with my thin, fine naturally curly hair. I look like I have much fuller hair with more beautiful curls! She also did my mom's hair. My mom went in with a very simple frizzy bob with a little bit of wave. She gave Debra free range. After discussing my mom's face shape and how little time she likes to spend on her hair, Debra went to work. Her hair looks amazing now, the best I've ever seen on her, and she has a bit of curl in her hair!! Debra was great. She took the time to find out our needs and make suggestions, even explaining what she was doing and why. She also took the time to show my mom how to quickly style her hair. We've both had nothing but compliments. We will definitely be back!

Hi I am the gal in the restaurant!!! Debra has been cutting my curly hair since 1984...yes, 27 years. What more can I say, she IS the best. A great stylist, always discusses what you want or if open for suggestions, she has the experience to give the best options for you. She also does an excellent job of coloring...I get cut and color every 5-6 weeks. Debra is an amazing person and I highly reccommend her.

Debra is a great stylist. I have complicated hair and to find a stylist that takes the time to deal with it is very rare. Her professionalism along with her friendly personality made for a relaxing experience. If you could have seen the before and now the after it would be proof positive that she knows how to tackle curly hair. As other reviewers remarked, she also cut my hair dry and then after shampooing it briefly used a dryer with a diffuser. This was such a refreshing and logical approach yet difficult to find stylists that understand this. I feel fortunate to have found Debra! P.S. I wrote a review of Tangles & Debra earlier this week that never was posted.

I am grateful that I found Debra! Having discovered her from this site I was excited to arrive for my appointment. My hair was especially crazy that day so to see the before and after was amazing. Not only is Debra a professional, who took the time to understand my complicated hair, she is also a people person, who is friendly and engaging. I left her salon looking and feeling like a different person....she did wonders and my hair continues to look great. I highly recommend her to my fellow curly heads out there!

This was a realy cute little building near downtown Ventura and Debra is a GREAT stylist. There are mirrors in front and back so you can always see what she is doing (even on the back of your head!) and she takes care to cut your hair evenly. She tells you everything she does so you know exactly what she is doing to your hair. Thanks so much Debra!

I found Tangles by doing a Google search for "great curly hair stylists" because everyone cuts my hair uneven and I always feel like I've waisted my money. I found this website and then I searched near me. This was the first time I've ever felt excited about my hair. Debra is super friendly. She put me at ease. I liked that she cut my hair dry! She also made my mop look amazing and for once in my life it is even! Her studio is cute, warm, and very clean in a great part of town. I live in Sherman Oaks but am in Ventura often to get away from LA. I will always schedule my trips around Debra's availability now. -Janice

I found Debra from this website. She said she has been getting business from this website in the past three weeks. A client asked if she minded if she posted her name and salon because she's pretty booked and works limited hours. Thank you client for posting. Her salon is cozy, not swanky. She spends time with you even though she chats (personable), she stays focused on your hair. I love my haircut and will book again with her.

Debra,the owner/operator, is a genius with curly hair. She cuts your hair dry (or wet, if you prefer) and spends a lot of time giving you the PERFECT CUT! I found her by asking a gal in a restaurant where she got her adorable haircut. She had been going to Debra for years. Now I know why. She is also excellent with hair color. This lady is a real treasure!
