I've been here a few times for trims and a cut on my growing fro. I was always treated very politely by the staff. The best visit was my most recent and a young woman with an A name gave me a great cut (can not remember her name!). This is the only place I'll go to!

I went to the salon for a consultation after transitioning for about 9 months. They were friendly and suggested that I cut off my relaxed hair before doing any further damage. (I had been blowing my hair straight at Dominican hair salons. Yikes!) I had no clue what to do with my hair, so they cut and gave me a cute style that I was comfortable with. I was terrified to be cutting off so much hair, but they calmed me down. They also gave helpful tips for a newbie like me. I love the salon decor and the atmosphere. The prices were reasonable and everyone was super friendly. I will certainly return. I only wish that I had gone there sooner!

I really enjoyed my visit to Afrigenix, and I will definitely return there. Audrey just has a beautiful personality and makes sure everyone leaves the salon feeling confident about their hair. She explained everything she did on my hair, and she did not try to push the salon's products on me. In fact, I came with the products I currently use and she gave me a fair review of them as well as tips to get the most out of them. She was also very good at suggesting different hairstyles for me to try at home. She gave me a very bold look, and I loved it.

Fabulous experience after a few average ones. They're a natural curly hair care salon right by the 79th street subway west side, on the first floor of a converted townhouse. The salon is intimate and spacious at the same time. I was 15 minutes late (I know) and Marie my stylist was a very sweet and imaginative dream. I went for a 'coil out' and at first she wasn't sure about undoing the coils right after twisting but took a chance and they came out fabulous and in half the time (1.5hrs!) that I've had this done before and without uncoiling (3!). She was gentle washing and drying my curls and I liked their in-salon products. They have a great website and didn't push their products on me and they accept all credit cards. Great, upbeat, relaxed attitudes, friendly conversation and the price was awesome; $70 for wash/condish/coil-out. My new salon and stylist!
