I haven't had my hair cut in years, after too many bad haircuts. I got Debra's name from a co-worker, and am joyous over her understanding of how to cut my hair! I donated a 10-inch ponytail, and am thrilled with the hair I have left. I will recommend Debra to anyone with naturally curly hair!

After decades of terrible haircuts by stylists who had no idea how to work with my wavy (often frizzy) hair, a good friend recommended Debra Merlo at Venus and Mars to me. I have never had my hair cut anywhere else since. She has been cutting my hair for 14 years now! As the other review mentioned, Debra has *gorgeous* curly hair herself, and she keeps up to date on products, styles, and techniques that are specific to curly hair. With her help, I have learned to LOVE my curls rather than fight against them, and she has given me style after style that I just adore. I especially appreciate that she is always honest with me about my suggestions. If I come in with an idea for a new style for my hair, she will always tell me if she believes that it won't work with my hair texture, or if it won't look so great on *me*, or if it will be a high-maintenance style that won't work with my lifestyle. And every cut she's given me has turned out beautifully! Her rates are very reasonable, which is important to me these days, even though her work is great enough that she could easily charge more. Her salon is small (just her and one other stylist), clean, and the atmosphere is fun. I strongly recommend her to anyone with wavy or curly hair!

Debra, who has curly hair herself, has been cutting my curly hair for more than 20 years. Some of my hair grows 3A curly and some grows straight and she knows how to cut it so it looks blended and beautiful when she's done. Her cuts are always classy and stylish. She's also excellent with color.
