Thank goodness! I live in Frederick and I have been searching for a salon that can work with curly hair... and I finally found one! This salon is 30 mins from Frederick and totally worth the drive. I got an amazing cut, the price was very reasonable and Catherine is a pro. I'll be her most loyal customer after this...
This was my first Devacut and I had it done almost a month ago. Catherine gave me a wonderful cut and it has been growing out nicely. She also has a wonderful, warm personality and made me feel very comfortable, as I was a bit nervous. Thanks, Catherine! :)
Really easy to schedule an appointment. Catherine was so friendly and really knew what I wanted when I told her I wanted long layers and to maintain length. She also did the DevaCut by cutting hair first and then washing, which I like way more than some DevaCuts which wash first and then cut.
The haircut was fantastic! If the appointment had ended there, she would have received a 4 or a 5. But sadly, the appointment continued on. She admitted my hair is very difficult for even the best stylists to cut and style, because it is mostly 3c-size waves, and the parts that actually curl cris-cross, and "have a mind of their own". So granted, my hair is hard to figure out, but still that can't explain away some of Catherine's styling mistakes: -She shampooed and conditioned my hair, even though she admitted to not having a shampoo/conditioner that worked well on dandruff (She could've just wetted it with water from a spray bottle, and styled) -She did not put leave-in conditioner in my hair before she put in gel. -She did not put my hair in a plastic cap before having me get under the hood dryer My hair left looking good. I posted pictures of it on your Facebook page. However, by the next morning, my hair and scalp were a complete mess! My scalp was flaking, oily, and sticky. My hair was as dry as the Sahara Desert. And when I went to take down my pineapple, it was sticking straight up in the air! Needless to say, I have since re-washed my hair, using all my regular products. So I would recommend Catherine, but only for haircuts. If she offers to style your hair, kindly tell her no thanks. If I need salon services again before I move out of the DC area, I will either be going to Color Zone or Oasis. Sorry you didn't work out for me, Catherine. By the way, the products that she used that did not work were all Deva products, and I wrote about how they worked/did not work for me on CurlMart.
I had a terrific experience getting a Deva cut with Catherine. She is the absolute best with curly hair. She takes her time, is very friendly, and explains each step. I had my original Deva cut from her when she was at Oasis. I've had a couple other people cut my hair when Catherine left Oasis, and that was a big mistake. I'm so glad I found her, and I will never go to anyone else :)
I was looking for a hair stylist that specialized in the Deva cut. I found Catherine through Google and Naturally Curly. I read her reviews and I made a hair consultation appointment. I walked away from our meeting feeling good. A week later I had my haircut. I love it. I will be going back to Catherine to maintain my haircut.
I found Catherine 2 yrs. after she left Oasis, & I am so happy! I tried other stylists @ Oasis, but I really liked her the best--Deva cut, highlights-- which she re- did for me happily w/out giving me a dirty look as I've had before, & didn't charge me again. She was the ultimate professional, & I was dismayed when they toldme she wasn't coming back @ Oasis! Thanks so this website, I had my appt. today for a Deva cut-- $25 LESS than Oasis(only $55 for a painstaking, terrific curly girl cut, with shampoo, condition, more conditioning, lessons to refresh my faulty memory on how to use the Deva products (all I use), no pushing of Ny products at all. And Catherine suggested I wait for more highlights, so I left paying only $55, & was delighted. Reasonable price, outstanding cut, wonderful to talk with & catch- up w Catherine. I'm sold & recommend her very, very highly. Beauty Naturals, 344 Main St./ between doc's office & Co.umbian Beeze/white door w no sign. 301-977-9039.
I have 3A/3B thick and curly hair, and I had it really short for about 10 years. I finally decided to grow it out. One reason I had it so short was because of how many bad haircuts I have had. So with this website I decided to take a chance and take your reviews at face value and try Catherine. She was GREAT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER. The salon is beautiful, relaxing and cozy. Catherine is very pleasant, the way she cut my hair was great. I had never had a dry haircut before, but a curl by curl haircut was unbelievable. She keeps up with her training and also teaches you how to maintain your curls. I love that she suggests products not pushes and her prices are really reasonable. I will continue to get my hair done there from now on. Thanks
I found out about Beauty Naturals Supply and Salon through this website. Once I read the reviews, I decided to try it out. For my first visit, Catherine did the dry/Deva cut - she did a great job shaping up my hair. My hair tends to fall straighter in the underside layers and around my face (curliest around my crown or top canopy layer). She really did a great job shaping up my mixed texture curls and encouraging the straighter areas to curl up more. She really takes her time with the cut. She also gave me a lot of styling tips. I went back for a trim 8 weeks later and this time had a few highlights done as well as my eyebrows waxed. Catherine mentioned that she had just been in NYC for a hair show so she keeps up her training and learns about the new Deva products, etc. Again, everything was top notch and I'm thrilled with the results. I love her prices as well. As other reviewers have mentioned, she's a great conversationalist - very pleasant. I also love supporting an independent salon/business woman. Upon my recommendation, my mom drove up from VA to have her hair cut with Catherine and was also very pleased. I'm so glad to have found a new stylist/salon!
I've been fully natural just under a year now and wanted my first diva cut. I did my research here on NaturallyCurly and chose Beauty Naturals Supply & Salon based on the reviews and location. I thought I might have to drive to DC but thankfully didn't have to invest in all that gas! I scheduled my appointment with the famous Catherine. The salon was fairly easy to find. It was clean and the decor was cute, not too much. Catherine is a diva stylist so she uses Diva Curl products. I've never used the diva products before and was excited to try them. I had never met Catherine before so I thought I might need some counseling as I would with any new person cutting my hair. Because like most I’m funny about my hair! She was easy breezy and I felt at ease & relaxed immediately. As she completed the cut I could see the style coming into shape and got excited!! I liked how the diva products gave my hair super moisture but the smell was a little off- putting. I don’t know that it would stop me from purchasing them in the future though. My hair came out FABULOUS and I’ll definitely go back for trims and touch-ups. I’m even considering color next time. :-P
I like Catherine and the salon but won't be getting services there unless I need to get Deva Products. The reason why this rating is low because of the relaxer. While I loved it I was not pleased it was a brand I can find at Target for less than $10 and being charged $65-$75 for it. I will go some where else for my relaxers. At least she was honest about it. That's why the 3 and not a 1.
Catherine is a great hair stylist. This was my second time getting a deva cut and she did an extraordinary job. She followed all the deva step perfectly and gave me very good tips on how to take care of my hair. I will definitely go back to her for my next haircut!
Catherine is a great hair stylist. This was my second time getting a deva cut, and she took her time to follow all the steps perfectly. She also gave me many tips on how to take care of my hair. She's the best! I will definitely go back to her for my next haircut!
Catherine is a great stylist. This was my second time getting a deva cut, and she followed all the steps perfectly and took her time to give a detailed education on how to take care of my hair. I will definitely going back to her for my next haircut!
i have followed Catherine from a previous salon. the haircuts are consistent each visit, exactly what i ask for, and she's so pleasant to spend an hour with. i recommend her to every curly-girl!
I had a great experience on my first visit.Catherine is the best!I had a detox to remove build up from my hair. She did a great job on my hair. I got so many compliments on my curls.Amazing service, great location beautiful salon!
I went here based on the positive reviews. Catherine is very nice and did take her time with my deva cut. Unfortunately, it did not work out well for me at all. It was probably the worst my hair has ever looked coming out of a salon. She cut off much more than we discussed also. I went home and re-did my hair with my own routine and products and still couldn't get it to look good. It's been a few weeks now and I am still struggling a lot with my hair following this cut. There is lots of very noticeable uneveness and stray pieces of hair that just stick out or hang down by themselves. I know that a deva cut will create uneveness (I did tons of research) but this shouldn't be visible when hair is styled and dried curly.
Based on reviews here I just spent more than two hours at Beauty Naturals with Catherine and everything that's been said in the prior reviews is absolutely on target. Catherine is a marvel. She cut my curly mess with expertise like I have never before experienced and colored all my strands with a beautiful shade matching my natural color. The results are fantastic and I now have gorgeous head of springy, defined Botticelli curls - just like nature intended. With Catherine, you don't get just a terrific stylist, you also get a smart, savvy, great conversationalist. She exudes confidence and knows what she's doing. She gets extra credit for venturing out on her own in what has to be a pretty tough, competitive industry, but she's going to do fine. All you MD, DC and VA curly girls - run, do not walk, to this salon!
If you are like me you will go to great lengths to find a good curly-hair stylist and I have often joked that I should try to get a job writing salon reviews! I have researched for days on end the location, menu, and naturallycurly.com reviews of every stylist I have ever been to. I've traveled hours and even gone out of state for a good cut! I am telling you all of this to emphasize that I am very picky and also do not want pay a fortune for a haircut. Since my last stylist moved, I desperately need to find someone - preferably someone who could do a Deva-cut. I found Catherine at Beauty Naturals Supply & Salon -A HIDDEN JEWEL!! have never met a more warm, gracious and unpretentious stylist EVER! Although I was apprehensive, she took her time with my cut and we chatted about what I might like to do with the color. The finished cut was perfect - all the curls fell into place without too much length having been cut off. I knew I had found my new stylist! I made a follow-up appointment then and there for a cut and color. Catherine is located in the Kentlands - a great location if you are traveling from the suburban D.C. area. Her salon is clean, neat and unpretentious. The address is Main Street, but the sign is difficult to see from the street so park in lot behind the building. There is a sign on the rear entrance to her her studio. PLEASE go see her. The number is 301.977.9039. If you leave a message she is very quick to return calls.
I just moved from Atlanta and a friend recommended Beauty Naturals Salon and i have no regrets. i had a touch up on my relaxed hair and also some waxing done. The place is pretty cool i liked the ambience and i was impressed by the fact that they have weaving services so i dont need to go to a different stylist for that and the prices are very good. I like how my hair looks and feels and i am most definitely going back to Catherine. Thanks so much Catherine will see you in two weeks time.
I want to say; "Beauty Naturals Supply & Salon is HIGHLY recommended." I used to go to Oasis Salon but stopped when Catherine left and prices were going up. I, too, was taking care of my hair for a while. However, I learned that Catherine set up her own salon at the Ketlands and I immediately made an appointment. Ladies....Beauty Naturals Supply & Salon is the place to go for all natural textures. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing...no stress at all! Catherine (owner/stylist/make-up artist) is such a blessed and talented individual in many ways. If you are looking for a high quality professional, excellent human being and a great listener, she is the one! I am very happy here and also super excited for Catherine. Give Beauty Naturals Supply & Salon and Catherine a try....you will not regret it. Many Blessings to you my friend!!!! Minerva
Catherine has been doing my hair ever since i decided to go natural. She was very helpful especially during my transition from straight to natural. I was impressed by her knowledge of the deva curl products which she used on my hair and gave me very helpful tips of how to take care of my hair between appointments. I recommend Catherine she is the best
i have been going to Catherine ever since i decided to go natural. She introduced me to the deva curl products which i like a whole lot because they really hydrate my very dry hair. She made my transition period from chemically stressed hair to beautiful natural hair easy to manage. I was impressed with her knowledge of the product line and she helped me learn how to take care of my hair between appointments. thanks Catherine.
I am so glad that a salon that caters to curly hair has opened near me. I used to go to Oasis in Rockville, but between the distance, the rising cost of a curly trim, and that fact that my stylist (Catherine) no longer worked there, I was stuck with trimming my own hair. That was not a good thing. The day I found out that Catherine opened her salon near me, I made a beeline there to check it out and make my appointment. First of all, it is located in the Kentlands which offers plenty of parking near the building the salon is in. The salon itself isn't very large, but quite serene with tasteful decorations and relaxing music. Second of all, I was seen as soon as I arrived. Catherine is the only stylist at the moment, but there was no waiting time. The trim was what I come to expect of a Deva "Curly Girl" trim so I was more than satisfied. I like that I do not feel pressured to use the hair products that she has in stock as I have my own preferences that work very well for me. Third, the price of services is very reasonable. I like that more than just curly hair services are offered in case I ever want to change my hair up with color or braided styles. Catherine is also a makeup artist and sells a couple of different lines. This worked out very well for me as I am starting to experiment with makeup (never wore it as a teenager or in my twenties). She tried different mineral foundations on me and I have finally found one that matches my skin tone exactly after months of trying store and mail-order brands. I intend to slowly replace the products that are not working for me with some of the products she offers. Overall, I highly recommend Catherine and Beauty Naturals Supply and Salon. I will be going back for other services very soon. PS--She also has some pretty cute and unique jewelry for sale.
