I have been convinced after seeing incredible before & after pics on IG for curly and coily hair type like mine for the past few weeks. Finally I found an appt last week and was just bouncing off the walls with excitement that I was finally able to get squeezed into their schedule. I came to EJS last friday and Cheyenne did an amazing job on my hair. She took time to listen to my hair concerns and goals. I even accepted in my mind before walking in needing a pixie cut to rid off all bad ends due to heat damage. Cheyenne actually comforted me and explaining to me that all I needed was just trim and I was actually relieved. My hair and scalp was washed and very well conditioned after my trim then dried in hood dryer and diffuser. I couldn't believe how amazing my hair actually looked. I have received compliments after compliments on my natural coily hair like never before. I am grateful to Cheyenne for showing me how to 1st if all to learn about my hair, accept it, respect and LOVE it. Im in LOVE with my hair.

Thank You

For years, I admired Evan's work on social media. I finally decided to make an appointment with him and see if the magic would also work for me. I wasn't disappointed! Evan has been my exclusive hair guru for over four years now, and I never plan to go to another salon again. He works magic on curly girls and teaches us to love and care for what we were given. Evan is more than a stylist-- he's an positive image guide and role model.

I had such a great experience with Cheyenne. As somebody who just recently began to embrace my curls, I desperately needed some guidance on hair how-to's. Cheyenne was wonderful! She explained everything she was doing, what products to use and why. And now I have a hair cut meant for curly hair for the first time ever. I took Cheyenne's recommendation for both cut and color and I left there LOVING my hair. I'll definitely be back and I highly recommend for anybody with curly hair.

Traveled 2 hours to this salon from my home. Evan cut my hair which is kinky coily Type 4. He did a fantastic job. Took his time in cutting my hair and gave me a regimen I can follow at home. He really knows what he's talking about, and the products he used and recommended, NYC curls, are great. I wish I had stumbled across him much earlier in my journey because I would've saved much time, money and runaround. Really great salon, chill relaxed atmosphere. It's definitely worth a visit especially if you have hair like mine and are tired of all day wash days only to have a style that doesn't last long and perpetually dry hair. These stylists in this salon know curly hair!!!

It was this salon who showed me the potential of my hair and convinced me to put the flat iron down! I came all the way from NY to have my hair done by someone and I trust and it was the best decision.

Evan really listened to my concerns about leaving my length, and chose the right shape that really complemented my face. He also took the time to correct a grown out blonde color that really wasn't flattering.

Also, no one is pushy! I never felt like I was being forced to purchase a product or service. They even recommended products which were more economical and used those same products to style my hair so I could see first hand what it could look like.

I walked out of there so completely overwhelmed with love of my own hair. I still can't believe it could look like this! This is the only place i will go to while I continue my hair transformation. All curly girls will LOVE their hair after leaving the salon.

Evan knows his way around curly hair which is evident by the way he cuts, washes, and styles.

Additionally, he is consultative during the process so that you can duplicate his amazing results at home.

So glad that I found my way to his salon!

I first found Evan in my hometown and loved his styling abilities so much I followed him to Columbus. He taught me how to care for my curls with the original curly girl method and Deva Curl products. I can honestly say I LOVE my curly hair now and receive compliments often! Thank you Evan for bringing curly back!

I have been looking for someone for many years to cut my curly hair.  I finally found an amazing salon that can do just that.  Evan at Evan Joseph Salon has been cutting and coloring my hair for the past 3 years.  I love how my hair looks.  The curls are natural and flow to my shoulders.  Evan has helped me with products and advise.  I get many positive compliments about my hair.  I love that most days I can just shake it out and go.  It is definitely worth the 1 1/2 hours that I drive to the salon.  There are now 6 curly girls that also make that long trip to get their hair done from my town.  We think it is well worth the trip.

I drive from Cleveland to get my hair done by Evan. I have a very complicated head full of 2c and 3a/b/c hair and he always does a good job managing it. I have never left looking and feeling nothing less than amazing. I love the curl by curl cuts he does and my hair always looks healthier when he's done.

Evan was amazing! There really isn't anyone near my area that I knew of/trusted to cut my hair, so I travelled to see him. I wanted to take some length off and add bouncier layers. Evan listened to my concerns and gave me a sassy, fun, and easy to style cut. He really took his time to explain what he was doing and why he did it, and taught me how to style my hair step by step. I have been getting nothing but compliments and positive feedback from my friends, family, and even people stopping me at the store! Thanks to Evan I have found a safe haven for my precious curls!

I am giving him 2 stars as opposed to 1 star as the back of it is not bad.  If I were to take a picture of the back it looks fine. But from the side profile or the front it's awful. Very unbalanced.

Perhaps having the front adjusted would help but it's soo thinned and layered at sides and front that to cut all the thinned ends and layers out, it would be up to my ears with the length in back several inches below my shoulders.

I asked him for an adjustment and he did not offer any suggestions or offer to fix any of it.

In the end, however, he did refund my money.

Did not work out well for me. I have very fine 2a-3a hair. He cut off too much, thinned the ends horribly, created choppy layers and cut the sides and front length way too short. The shape is awful and will not lay  well.  This was two months ago. It will be 2 years to grow this out to get my hair back the way it was.  In the meantime I can not even wear it curly depending on how the hair decides to fall on a given day as the shaping is soo bad.

Cut off 6 inches in some areas ( sides and front)

The back isn't bad, but the sides and front are horrible, having to pull it straight so it doesn't poof out at ears or just fall all in my face  and pinning it back is best I can do.  My top layer is not as curly as the back and under layers and needs to be cut different than the rest of it.

Maybe he does well for other hair types.

Maybe he was having a bad day.  But he did not do as I asked ( no more than 1 inch, blunt ends, keep the current shape).

Hands down the BEST experience I have ever had at a salon!!! Evan was great - taking the time to explain what he was doing and also to explain the parts of the process I was doing incorrectly. I have never left a salon and loved my hair and that finally has happened! I will gladly make the 2-hour drive to go see him -- it is well worth it -- from the cut & style to the tips & knowledge I received! I am now following the Curly Girl method properly and my hair looks the best it has ever looked! Thank you Evan!!!

I only recently discovered that I have curly hair. I have been searching for someone I trust to help me with my hair, and Evan was just the right person to do so! He listened carefully, asked questions, did a fantastic dry cut, then taught me how to use the products and care for my curly hair. For every question I asked of him, he had an answer and as much explanation as I wanted. I have never liked going to the hair salon until today. Thanks for the great experience Evan!

I have wavy/curly hair and was having a hard time finding someone who would do a good job cutting it, so I decided to try Elements after checking out their Facebook page and seeing the pictures there. Elements of Luxury specializes in curly hair and one of the owners/stylists is actually a personal friend of the woman who wrote Curly Girl. It's run by Evan and Carolyn who are a son and mom team. They both seem equally informed about curly hair, so even though Evan cut/colored my hair, I'd happily let Carolyn do it too--especially because she has absolutely gorgeous curly hair! Elements follows the methods laid out in the Curly Girl book very closely, and even though curly hair seems to be more of an art than a science, actually seeing someone do the Curly Girl method on me was particularly helpful. I had bought the book a few months earlier and had been doing my best to implement the techniques explained in the book, but was still having a little trouble getting it to work for me. After going to Elements and actually having someone do it for me that learned directly from the author, I was much more equipped to go home and figure out what worked best for me on my hair. For example, Curly Girl says that you need to use a lot of conditioner and gel, which I had thought I was doing correctly. However, after seeing what Evan did to my hair, I realized that I had to use a TON more than I had been using. Truth be told, I don't use as much as they put on my hair in the salon, but I still use way more now than before and just the other day my husband said, "Your hair is starting to look a lot more like the pictures that you always talk about wanting to look like." I also saw Evan do the hair of a young woman while I was getting mine colored who had never done much with her curly hair and she looked incredible when he was finished--much less frizzy, more defined curls, etc. In Short: Pros: -They love working with curly hair -They know what they're doing with curly hair, so I felt like I could trust them on my first visit -They're so sweet and encouraging that you're trying to learn how to embrace your natural beauty -They're happy to answer as many questions as you have about how to do your hair at home -They explain what they're doing to your hair so you can do it yourself later -Normal price for a salon, I think it was $129 for a cut and overall color of my long hair -They love making women feel beautiful in their curly hair which just made for a really pleasant atmosphere Cons: -They were scheduling two weeks out or more for appointments when I called in -My hair was a pretty product-full when I left, but I've adapted what they did to suit what I like, so that's not a big deal -The appointment took quite long, but I think it's because they weren't terribly busy and were answering all the questions I had for them, so this may be more my fault. Maybe just ask when you make your appointment how long it will take.
