Joan has made a big difference in how I feel about my hair. As a treat I usually have her blow it straight, because I am not very good at doing that myself, but the cut is great curly too. She understands how to make my thick 3b hair look its best and makes me feel so much better about myself.

I have 3a hair, which I wear straight about half the time. Joan took the time to listen to me and all of my myriad hair concerns. She gave me a fabulous cut that works both curly and straight. There's no pyramid shape, curly mullet, or hacked-off butchery. Can't wait to go back!

Andrea completely disregarded my instructions and butchered my hair. The entire mess could have been avoided if she had listened to me. First, I wanted a “trim”. I wanted about 2 inches cut off, but I did not want a different cut. Second, I discussed how layers did not work in my hair. I specifically used the words “looks like a mullet”. I specifically told her that I did not want any layers in my hair. Third, I discussed how the weight of my hair kept it from becoming frizzy and aided in retaining its natural curl. Completely disregarding this, she cut short layers in my hair (a good 3 inch difference) and actually used thinning shears. I was shocked. I haven't seen a pair of thinning shears in ages, and I specifically told her the weight was a good thing for my hair. It will take more than a year for this ugly mess to grow out enough to be fixed.
