Aug 15, 2009 - I've been on a several-year odyssey of various stylists since moving from California to Virginia, so I feel I have a pretty good basis for comparing stylists that work with curly hair. I have 3a curls framing my face, but other areas of my hair are more wavy than curly. And since having a child, my hair texture and curl pattern have changed and presented me with challenges. I was very frustrated until I found Mona, who has really worked wonders with my hair! I finally have a cut that is both easy to care for and totally maximizes my natural curl. The first four stylists I saw other places, after moving to the area, struggled with my hair, even though I stayed with each of them through a few cuts hoping they'd learn how to work with me. It seemed I was always ending up with weird boxy cuts or tons of product in my hair that weighed it down. I look back at pictures during the time before I found Mona and I am still bothered by how unflattering the cuts were. This included a frustrating stint with a high-priced salon that did a quidad cut, which is terrible for my hair, but Mona took the time to really work with me and find a cut that suited my hair from the first time I came into the salon. My hair can be temperamental, so it really requires the stylist to know what they're doing. It is so easy to care for now, and the curl has returned, finally! Mona really knows how to work with curly hair, and I couldn't be happier!
