SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque

May 22, 2014 - I've bought this twice. The first time, I used it as a deep treatment and it did absolutely nothing for my hair. NOTHING. I gave it to my aunt who, after using it as a leave-in, was raving about it. She graciously shared some of the last few scoops for me to try again and...boom. Leave-in magic. I regretted my rash decision and decided to purchase it again. After wash day, my hair felt incredibly soft, defined (without that icky noodly look), and honestly I was bombarded by strangers complimenting my hair! I almost missed my dental appointment because the staff there hounded me on my hair care routine. A quick trip to the CVS turned into a half hour natural hair care conference. It was the weirdest yet most wonderful thing. Like all products, it may or may not be as effective for you, but it just soared above SM's Curl Enhancing Smoothie in my Holy Grail hierarchy. My 3c curls LOVE IT.

Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner

Nov 10, 2011 - I bought this product on a whim just to try out Mixed Chicks, despite the ingredient list (A 'cone? In my curly hair product? It's more likely than you think!). My hair really liked it! Initially it felt crunchy, even after adding a bit of olive oil, but the next day after a bit of scrunching, my curls feel sooooooooo soft and defined. If it weren't for the 'cone (granted a low-key 'cone), parabens and the price, it would be a staple. I'lll see if I have a change of heart by the end of the bottle. :)

Giovanni Tea Tree Shampoo

Aug 28, 2011 - The price tag scared me off for years (I'm a real cheapie) despite all the good reviews. After desperately needing a clarifying shampoo (and one that would tame the itchies), but fed up with silicones, I decided to take a stab at Giovanni's shampoo. I liked the ingredients and boy, my hair liked them too! The tea tree and peppermint oils felt like a dream on my scalp. Normally, clarifying shampoos, even ones with the gentler sulfates, strip my hair and leave it a tangled rat's nest, but my scalp and hair were left clean without the dry stripped feeling. I probably can't get away with using it more than once a week, but it's a keeper. I didn't even have to use that much! Well worth the price!
