Curl Junkie Curls in a Bottle

Aug 19, 2015 - If you have curly hair (for reference, I am 3A/3B with fine hair) and want a styling product that defines, gives light but non-crunchy hold, and reduces frizz, there is nothing better than Curl Junkie's Curls in a Bottle. This is a thin gel that is easy to apply. I usually use a very small amount of a Curl Junkie leave-in conditioner first. Then I section my hair and apply a small amount of Curls in a Bottle to each section. I then use the "rake and shake" method in which you rake the product through the section of hair from root to end and then hold it out and give it a shake so that the definition begins. After the sections are done, I scrunch really well with a microfiber towel. You can view this method online or certainly use whatever method works best for you. I then air-dry my hair, not touching it until it is totally dry. Then I use my hands to scrunch again and separate the curls. My hair is now well-defined (spirals for me) with a minimum of frizz (I don't believe claims of NO frizz at all). I can go three days without shampooing when using this styler, sometimes refreshing with a few spritzes of water and maybe a little dollop of Coffee-Coco Curl Creme - Lite. I will never be without this product!

Jessicurl Spiralicious Styling Gel

Aug 19, 2015 - I have 3A/3B somewhat fine hair. I have the best results when I use the "rake and shake" method of styling my hair instead of applying a styling product to my whole head of hair at once. I use and love Curl Junkie products but was intrigued with this gel. But it's a no go for me. It's extremely sticky, which is annoying. Unless I was just unable to find that sweet spot between using too little and using too much, it seemed to create a monster crunch and not-so-attractive hair that didn't subside until Day3. So Day 1 and Day2 were not good hair days for me at all, which is the opposite problem we curlies usually endure. Is this the trade-off for a harder hold? If so, then maybe this might work for certain curl types. But for my type, I'll stick with a Curl Junkie leave-in followed by their Curls in a Bottle, sometimes along with Coffee-Coco Curl Creme-Lite or Pattern Pusha gel. FYI: I will be posting this review at other sites.

Beautiful Curls Shea Butter Curl Defining Gel

Feb 22, 2014 - This is an unsung hero in the world of curly girl products. I've used a zillion curl defining creams and gels. I like several. But this one is my favorite now. It's really a cream/gel, and I love its consistency. A little bit goes a long way. It controls frizz very well and really does help to define curls. I apply a quarter-size dab to my hair, run a wide-toothed comb through it to distribute the product, then lightly scrunch with a microfiber towel. I then don't touch my hair until it's dry. At that point, if there's a crunchiness, I just scrunch it easily with my fingers. My hair is then soft and nicely defined. I have not felt the need to add any other gel for extra hold, but I'm sure that you could do so successfully. I find that I'm better able to get decent second- or even third-day hair using this product. I hope it is never discontinued. FYI: I like this product so much that I have posted this review on several sites.
