SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk

Jul 25, 2013 - At first I thought I didn't need this because the SM smoothie has such similar ingredients. Boy was I wrong. This stuff is a-mah-zing. I can scrunch it into dry hair and it totally revives my curls. They're soft, shiny, with loads of bounce and zero frizz. It's just amazing for a touchup or a refresher. And it smells so, so, SO good. People are always telling me that my hair smells nice and I think this is the reason why.

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner

Jun 10, 2013 - If you're looking for a conditioner to help detangle your hair (read: SLIP), then this is not the one for you. If you're looking for a conditioner with nice girlish smell, this ain't it either. For that I deduct a full curl because this stuff really isn't perfect as "conditioner", because with the word "conditioner" comes a lot of expectations. Nevertheless, I keep repurchasing this stuff because it is so super duper moisturizing. I throw it in my deep treats as a base, I can use it as a leave in when my hair is dry, and I mix it with a slipper rinse out (say Tresemme Naturals or Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle) when I'm washing my hair, I let it sit a good five minutes to penetrate, then I detangle with the aid of slippier conditioners and I'm all right. I have coarse hair so it needs extra moisture and emollients and this stuff does the job. it doesn't really have a smell. It's sort of plain. But I don't mind. I don't even really mind the (and I'm being honest) utterly DIRE lack of slip because I have other products that provide it. And oh my God if you mix this conditioner with honey and olive oil, it is like your hair is having a bath in moisture. Also, like all Shea Moisture products, I don't have to worry about chemicals or nasty preservatives poisoning my body and polluting the environment.

Ecoco Ecostyler Professional Styling Gel Krystal

Feb 25, 2013 - This review is actually for the argan oil one but I do not see it listed and the ingredients are virtually the same for both products so I'm commenting here instead. Although my results were less than stellar, I do not want to give this product a negative review because it is good quality. Nice clean ingredients, very inexpensive, light smell that doesn't linger, and it doesn't flake at all. It also has a good hold (not too much) and gives me nice tight curls with good bounce. However, it dries my hair out so bad. The first time it happened I was surprised so I tested it again to see if it was a fluke. Same thing. If I leave this gel in my hair for anything over 24 hours it gets so dry and tangly. At first I suspected glycerine was the culprit but then I tried someone's suggestion of putting it in sopping wet hair (so the glycerine would have enough water to feed its humectant properties) and see if the gel dried my hair out still. Well, it did it again, so I've come to the conclusion that it's the wheat protein. I'm very sad. I really loved this product (especially its price) and the fact that it's cruelty free. That's a rarity at the drugstore. If you're not protein or glycerine sensitive, however, this is a great choice.
