Aug 18, 2010 - This was adequate. When I first used this, I used it on top of other products, b/c I was anxious to try it out. No groundbreaking effects there ,just a little added definition. I used it again on freshly washed hair w/a light leave in, it came out ok. I agree that this is good for wearing pony tails, as I don't see this product doing much for defining a curly style left out. This balm has a nice texture, no heavy smells and plenty of slip. I would say it's good for what it's meant for and probably good for hair types up to 4a. However, for the price and the amount, I won't be repurchasing.

Mar 29, 2010 - Why does this product remind of Curls Gel-Les'c? It smells, behaves like and has the same consistency of the Curls Gel-Les'c... I haven't compared the ingredients though. Anyway, I like this product and it may someday replace my Gel-Les'C (once I've finished my huge 32oz bottle!) because I can get 12 oz of product (instead 8) for a lot less. Also similar to Curls, it works well with other products, which is a plus for me. Overall, nice, soft but firm hold.
Sep 08, 2009 - I agree with most of the other reviewers, this is a cheap, get-the-job-done, alternative to some of our more expensive staples. I mixed mine with some other healthier ingredients, and, well, I made it smell a little funky (beware of some oil extracts), but it still works well when used following my Giovanni Direct Leave in conditioner. Good standby but not organic.
